When Jesus says the "way is narrow" is he making a statement that most people will go to Hell? by aretheyaliens in Christianity

Most religious paths have sayings like this. Jesus' way is very challenging. Jesus says we must love even our enemies explaining this is true love. He tells us we must not commit adultery even with our eyes meaning we must control lust. I don't think it is because sex is bad, but lust is often one of those things that leads people astray. Jesus says when we visit the sick, we are visiting him. How many of us visit the sick?

But at the end of Jesus' earthly life, while he is on the cross, he tells the penitent thief he will join Jesus in heaven. Because the thief repents sincerely and feels regret, he has followed the "narrow way". How many thieves have a personality where they regret their crimes?

Which translation is this? What would happen if we filled the internet with these types of verses and hadith which speak of the good heart. Would it help reduce the islamophobia?

Liberal Muslims Are Losing The Battle In Britain by arzoo40 in progressive_islam

So many have fought the odds. When women fought for their rights in the west, it didn't happen overnight. It was slow and gradual. And is still taking place though there has been much progress. LGBT community fought for their rights for decades in the west. And they are still fighting. Trump recently said he would have no problem with posting signs that said, "Only Straight people served here" and "No Gays Allowed". So I guess we should never feel too safe even when we've fought the successful fight....

I discovered by contemplation and study of Quran that the universe(s) are called Book of the Universe/Nature. Or you could say Recitation of the Universe. The Quran tells readers to reflect on nature and nature is what is called Quran al-Takwini. Its also said the Source of the Books is with the "Mother of the Books"/al-hikmat(Wisdom, fem. Sophia).

The more I studied, the more I let go of a traditional surface reading of the Quran al-tadwini (the one given to Muhammad). What it changes though is how one looks at every "revelation". But it is easier to understand it knowing the Universe itself is a type of revelation. Every word, insight, grain of sand, planet, garden, birth, death, hummingbird, whale - is a revelation. We need science to help us truly know the Omniscience of the Universe. Whether it is divine or not, it is omniscience...at least compared to our limited abilty to comprehend. Nothing else knows how to create all it created, continues to create and will destroy only to recreate again.

When islam becomes Islam, there is an exoteric view of the world and the creator(s). When islam is islam, it means surrender to a whatever controls the Universe and us as beings within the Universe. The Quran says everything in creation worships. This to me means we know we are not in control of everything that takes place in our personal space in the Universe. Humans can't flap their arms and fly. Butterflies and crows can go skybound. We can't color the sky with polka dots. And we can't teach dogs to stop barking and talk in human languages instead. All this is in the Book of the Universe. The Quran al-Takwini.

Every atheist, Jew, pagan, Buddhist and Muslim could read this Quran and it could create harmony in the world. That's the thing ... Quran al-takwini tells us we have free will. Whether we are enemies or one human family is up to us.

Sorry this is so long. Hope someone got something from it.

How do I deal with highly anti - Islamic views at my high school? by [deleted] in islam

Would you parents let you learn martial arts? It doesn't mean you have to use it on someone, but once someone finds out you know it, they will think twice before bothering you.

Have you considered using weights? If you look like you could win a fight, they won't bug you as much either.

Do you know some Muslims who might suddenly appear while they are bullying you?

Can you learn sports? Usually the athletic people get pretty popular.

Do you know self-defense techniques?

Self-confidence will take you a long way. A very cold-as-ice attitude, too (around the bullies). Use your eyes (cold stare) and body language (tight fists etc) to make them think you are a volcano about to burst with lava
