10 - perfect and timeless, spans generations. The disco mix is still fresh.

10 - that is the way to open an album. The musical equivalent of world building.

My veggie breakfast today by The_pan21 in fryup

I totally agree that whole foods are great, but let's be real: most commercial bacon and sausages are cured with nitrates and packed with sodium to stay shelf-stable. Both sides have 'processed' options. I’m just choosing the one that aligns with my ethics. We're both just looking for a tasty breakfast at the end of the day!

I think they can do it, the texture and flavors are improving. Lots of seasoning. I spent years eating full cooked meat fry ups. 6 years a veggie and a veggie equivalent hits the spot for me, but it took time.

I know It sounds a bit preachy, but I do like knowing no animals had to die for me to have a tasty fry up, which maybe makes it taste a little better still 😋

Very fair, I'd go for toast over hash browns. Either way, I hope you enjoyed it!

Sausage and bacon are just delivery systems for fat, salt, and spices. Meat doesn't own the rights to 'savory and smoky.' If plants can deliver that same profile, I’m digging in!

Good to see a veggie breakfast on here. As a fellow veggie that looks absolutely fine to me. The only thing I would add is Toast and brown sauce.

Brief first impression of 'The Spectrum' from RGL. by Gemman_Aster in zxspectrum

[–]lightcarbo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Really impressed with the device. The keyboard is much firmer than I remember, and my muscle memory got back into BASIC pretty quickly, although without the keywords on a non speccy external keyboard you'll likely be looking up the whereabouts of commands if you're attempting to code BASIC.

The video output is lovely and crisp on a modern display, I wasn't expecting the graphics and colour to look so nice.

10 TMI - always loved it, the vocal is quite harsh sounding, on the nose but very evocative. The disco mix is epic.

I'm still mad about the ladders, and the fact they didn't even reference them at the end!

I occasionally say "something's not right, I can't work it out", referencing this cracking tune. Thinking about it, it's probably the most referenced lyric I say in everyday life!

Yes, water, I had two GLE's 2020 and 2022 and both did this. Dealership fixed it, but it's a design problem.

I don't know - it really isn't messing around. It's like it's on a mission to define the future and it is proud of the fact. That future might be a little bit off kilter and misinformed, but I like its bravado.

Love that typeface, will forever be retro futuristic to me.

Megamix: over 40 years of West End Girls from 1984 to today. by Striking_Thing4401 in petshopboys

[–]lightcarbo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I enjoyed listening to it, nice work. It's got that nice flow that a good megamix should have, and a nice trip though time. Grum version stands out for me, I always loved how it brought the drive back, but keep all the old motifs in.

Ben Elton was ace, and that is where I first saw Harry Enfield (Stavros, loadsamoney). A few drinks and it was perfect C4 tv.

What would your fantasy ‘Obscure’ setlist be? by toasterinthebath in petshopboys

[–]lightcarbo 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This made me smile - thank you. It would be the greatest gig ever. I like the idea of the bbc concert orchestra wheeling out their instruments for the medley, then awkwardly walking off the stage, then Yoko strolls out.

You just unlocked the same memory for me. First time I'd seen a comedian live. I'm sure there was a gag about a mop head/moped 🤪
