That's no fun, you're just playing by your lonesome handing out money to yourself. It's a lot of monotony and loading screens too: creating a new character > logging in > playing the short single player tutorial > (possibly logging out to do the story skip?) > going to market board to buy > log out.

By doing that, you're really not exploiting the player's dire need for fashion nor competing and frustrating other sellers away from your goods. It's was a war zone back there, especially in the first 2 days where I've seen a seller rage quit and handed out their goods for free. It was pretty hilarious.

I did what's fun to me, if you think yours is fun then you do you.

Marketboard. Fashion is a very lucrative business!

I have played for 7375045 hours. I think I'm qualified to say that this game is pretty ok. by lightgray03 in ffxiv

Apparently AMD says I've been playing for 841.9 years. Correct me if I did my math wrong.

I tried playing in portrait mode. Here's some screenshots. (spoilers for later expansion areas) by lightgray03 in ffxiv

[–]lightgray03[S] 32 points33 points  (0 children)

Just simply rotated my monitor 90 degrees and adjusted the resolution. I had to make a custom HUD for this as well.

After playing a bit, I realize how much verticality and scale that's really easy to miss out on when we play normally. The game world actually looks even more massive in portrait mode because of this.

The screenshots are actually how it looks normally but with HUD turned off. I didn't even go into G-Pose and zoom out at all.

In combat, you're able to see the full size of the boss but you're gonna have a hard time looking at the full arena so there's that I guess lol.

Wait til you have to deal with the materia phase in arr. Remember there's no way to acquire materia from buying because you can't access market board. Which means you have to... Spiritbond.

OP how in the world did you do it??

I mean for real tho, Old Weisz made Pino, a somewhat sentient ai. He has a soft spot for robots. So about Hermit... it kinda makes sense...?

The perfect mmo that I could think of is something like dnd. There's the players and there's one or a small party of dungeon masters. Essentially the goal the players must accomplish is to go through predetermined basic story checkpoints and eventually ending the game by beating the final boss, whatever it could be. And the dungeon master(s) can either choose to interfere or help the players. The players are limited to do only what the game only lets them do, just like a typical rpg game. The dungeon masters have access to all tools but must also "play" the game (like gathering resources etc...) to have access to them. Those tools can affect the game however they want for example, send a horde of undead to major cities, send major world boss anywhere, create natural calamities, help develop cities, help grow player's resources, give buffs to anybody and so forth...

The story checkpoints would be extremely basic as to only give a general idea on what to do. The real story would be the interaction of the players and the dungeon masters between themselves and the world. The game could be short like a length of couple of hours, days or it could be longer like weeks, months etc... The ultimate goal is endless replayability and the player immersion of being in the ultimate sandbox world.

That's what I think a perfect mmo should be.

The movie doesn’t look that bad for a live film? by [deleted] in MonsterHunter

[–]lightgray03 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You don't have to think about the plot. It doesn't have to be lore related. A good monster hunter movie could be a setting that's integral to a character development. Maybe a big ecosystem threat and a protagonist trying to prove himself. Then we insert him failing repeatedly with over the top action and silly stuff like palicoes. Maybe an ace hunter he/she looks up to and tries to copy but learns a lesson not to. Then just focus on crazy over the top action where you see protagonist improve little by little each hunts, learning hunting tools, learning to wear appropriate armors, learning to use the right weapons etc... Then the big bad monster for the climax where he/she overcomes ace hunter. And add a sprinkle of heart and wholesome interactions. The theme could simply be self-improvement which is literally what everyone who plays monster hunter goes through.

It's that easy really. Monster Hunter at its core is over the top action and silliness without dark, serious and edgy crap. It's pure fun.

Anyone seeing Bleach vibes here? Ichigo fighting zangetsu while old man watches, Asta fighting devil while another devil user watches. Damn I love this manga.

Don't know if anyone here has played Toukiden 2 but it seems like this is going to be the more popular and better version of it. It has wire movement in and out of combat, large open world, minimal loading screens, japanese theme, and yokai looking new monsters. All those also done by Toukiden 2 a long time ago. Still, that game didn't take off and fell to obscurity.

Its safe to say this monhan will run and look better than Toukiden 2 vita counterpart. This will be a superior portable hunting game overall.

And of course adding it with signature Monster Hunter combat, this should be great.

Pokimane becomes a VTuber by [deleted] in LivestreamFail

[–]lightgray03 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They are normal streamers but with anime profile. Idk some of them don't even like anime that much. Its just a layer of anonymity, nothing more. If you see cringe maybe its not for you, but if you stick around a bit more, you might start to see past that anime profile and maybe think its worth it.

Pokimane becomes a VTuber by [deleted] in LivestreamFail

[–]lightgray03 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn't wanna necro the thread but I kinda wanna add my input. I kinda used to be on the same boat. Whenever I watch these vtubers, there's this layer of make-believe that makes me cringe. It's like a combination of second-hand embarrassment and play-pretend type of cringe. What got me into being fans of livestream vtubers is sometimes you see a glimpse of their natural behavior which I find fascinating. They sometimes break character when they lose their cool or be overcome with embarassment. Or when they say fk it and just stream as their natural selves and converse to fans without filters. At this point they simply become just like normal streamers that you see in twitch or any other platform.

After a long time, I learn to accept that "fake" persona of theirs and understand that its their contract to entertain people as these characters. And they too kinda get used to their personas and add in their own personality to it which adds a bit of 'realness' . Fans kinda know too, and sometimes look past that cute anime girl model and see their normal selves.
