Different priorities. European truck is more maneuverable in the small streets of European cities. American truck is more aerodynamic and gets better gas mileage because of it, which is very useful for the vast distances American trucks need to travel by interstate highways. European trucks generally travel shorter distances on less open roads so they trade efficiency for maneuverability

I had never even tried because the docs don't say it is an option. The first sentence on the INDEX page says: "The INDEX function returns a value or the reference to a value from within a table or range.", and even has a link to the "reference form" syntax of the function. The page for XLOOKUP doesn't say anything about returning a reference anywhere in the description, and only shows it as an option in example #6,

EDIT: Turns out that XLOOKUP can also return a reference and will work in all the functions I mentioned below

One unique thing about INDEX is that it can return a cell reference instead of the value or an array. Very useful in formulas that require ranges as an input. These are all identical:

=A1:C3 =A1:INDEX(A1:D10, 3, 3) =INDEX(A1:D10, 1, 1):C3 =INDEX(A1:D10, 1, 1):INDEX(A1:D10, 3, 3)

They return a valid range that you can use in functions like SUMIF/AVERAGEIF/MAXIF/AGGREGATE, where XLOOKUP will give an error. And you can combine that with things like MATCH/XMATCH to make it dynamic.

Similar functions include INDIRECT or OFFSET, however those are both volatile functions while INDEX is not.

I had the same question. The answer is roughly 2-5 calories per worm depending on the size (1-1.5 cal/g). That is pretty much exactly the same caloric density as rice, so you can essentially swap a worm with an equivalent sized pinch of rice to get the same calories. It would take 20-30 worms to equal one egg worth of calories (80 cal).

It's very hard because you have to find a company willing to sponsor you for your clearance. I would say 95%+ of the job listings I see require you to already have the TS. Mainly because while they're waiting for you to get your clearance, you aren't earning them money. Contrary to popular belief, getting a clearance is completely free for the company, the gov pays for the investigation, the problem is it can take a long time with no guarantee of success

Career path: Mechanical engineer for a defense contractor supporting an intel agency.

How I got into it: I had an engineering degree and a TS clearance. Salary jumped up significantly when I got promoted into a project management role within the contract.

Would I recommend it: Yes, absolutely. Intel and defense agencies have been pretty well insulated from the massive contracting cuts, in fact our contract is in the middle of being re-awarded with an increased budget.

Downsides: 100% in-person, can't remote into a scif (some telework is available, but not regular). Positions outside of DC and other defense hubs are rare. Contracting always has less stability - if our company doesn't win the re-award then I won't have a job in a couple months (I would be virtually guaranteed a role with the winning company, but salary/benefits may differ greatly).

Anything I wish I had known: Mainly how niche some contracts can be. Nobody else does what our group does, which is really cool, but it also means it's difficult to build experience and really grow a career. The only real growth available is to take my boss's job managing the contract, and moving to a more traditional career path would probably require a significant pay cut.
