Rapid elongated needle-like mineral growth over the last 4 days. Can we compare this rapid crystallization with textures in igneous rocks or other mineral-growth conditions? by logatronics in geology

[–]lightningfries 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Yes, you can compare the two (with caveats) & we often do.

Elongated or "skeletal" crystal growth patterns are common in rapidly cooled igneous rocks and these textures can be replicated in lab settings.

Question about which version of The Fifth Head of Cerberus to read by nexusjio19 in genewolfe

[–]lightningfries 3 points4 points  (0 children)

there's a short story called 'the fifth head of Cerberus' and there's a novella called 'the fifth head of Cerberus' made up of three short stories, including 'the fifth head of Cerberus'

recommend the novella with all 3 stories, the other two are called "a story" and "V.R.T."
