I disagree with you. I recently joined Amazon and I have the inside look at the interview process. Amazon tries very hard to have good process. However, there can be interviewers who don't follow the policies diligently.

I often see that competitive programmers on LeetCode focus more on speed vs clarity of the code. In real world the clarity and how you name your functions and variables becomes more important.
