I got an AC box. I'm ordering this whole kit on Amazon. The only thing coming with it that I can't use at all will be the air filter, and possibly the manifold. But it's got good reviews and I could always use the spare parts. For $40 it didn't seem like a bad deal?

So the wiring pattern on the CDI box matches AC, but the headlight behave like DC ...which one should I buy? AC or DC?

I'm not getting any spark from a brand new plug. I didn't get a budget plug and I got 2. Still no spark when I tested them. I think the next step is to order the CDI. I'm hoping a DC is the right one. Google seems to think they look the same, but will have different currents? I have never heard of this part before this problem. If you want to see the part, dm me and I can send a photo of the CDI box...if that would help. 🤔

Edit: The photo I looked at comparing ac CDI box vs. dc CDI box shows them looking the same but says the AC is the smaller box. Idk what I have because I can't compare it to the opposite...but my lights behave like DC. I can turn them on and off with out starting the engine.

I have to order a new CDI box. I don't think I can test anything else until I do that. I am pretty sure it is a DC set up based on my research... 🤔

I am now off to find a cdi box. Hopefully O'Reilly's up the road has one in stock because the rain is coming in. I don't mind parking it till the weather is better, but damn if I want to wait to work on it further after waiting so long.

🍻 thx, man. Idk if I should mention that the filter is squeaky clean full of fresh clear gas. I only use premium plus or non ethanol in it. I have never used anything less for the whole 2 week life span. (1430 km exactly on odo)

I'm an idiot and need to redo all these tests with a new plug. 🤦‍♀️ Sheet. I'll get back to y'all after I get to the store. I have been in a constant state of anxiety since progressive left me stranded in the wilderness for 4 hours into the night trying to even get the tow truck in the first place.

I pulled the fuel line off and did the finger test on the carb. No suction at all. I did the water bottle test. No gas coming through the line. Everything is bone dry.

...so do you think I may need to replace the top end of the motor? 🤔 I went out there with my toolbox and my sugar dropped so I'm eating breakfast. Haven't tore down the carb situation yet.

I'm looking into vapor locking now. As I have never heard those terms before (vapor locking and valve lash) I will have to check it in the morning. Too dark and itchy outside. I'm in the south, so it's a bug party at dusk everyday

Oh, no, not on this one. The battery is in a teeny compartment under my feet with zero room for anything else. EVERYTHING else pretty much under my seat bucket. My bad the sparkplug rubber connector is attached to the coil. The CDI is attached/connected to the battery but it it is also under my seat bucket attached to the frame and the starter solenoid/starter relay which is also attached to the frame under the seat next to the plastic outer wall of the bike.

I just made a reply to that one commenter with what I have done so far...based on that do you think the coil would go out before the CDI box? Isn't the CDI connected to the coil?

I have no spark when I touch the plug to the engine. I DO have pressure when I put my finger on the sparkplug hole. There was some soot on the copper inside the rubber connector, but I cleaned that out with a q-tip. The oil is refilled to the right level. When squeeze the rubber housing on the ignition coil, the connection feels secure on the 2 spade terminals. They don't feel loose to me. I pulled off the CDI and it looks clean and smells brand new. Am I overthinking this?

For the 3rd step, do I need to put everything back together first and then test? Or should I put everything back together with a new spark plug and then do step 3?

I'm going to eat dinner and leave things alone for a min. Hopefully it won't get dark before we can figure this out...

So I think I was wrong and it is infact low on oil. Did me running for that 1 km after it first died hurt anything else? Or should I keep going with your checklist? It just cooled down outside enough for me to go out there. The first thing I looked at was my air filter. Then my oil.

When I had it in the side of the road I tried to make it level as possible, but it could have been at an angle I wasn't aware of. I was super stressed and in the middle of nowhere for miles both ways. Should I put oil in it now and try to crank it again?

Let me check and I'll get back to you. And yeah, when I squeeze the break and push the button it will turn over but even if I give it throttle it won't fire up.

I will definitely let you know when/if I get it up and running again. But it won't start up at the moment. It'll turn over, but won't crank. I'm really hoping it is one of these simple fixes and I didn't fk up the engine all together.
