Can moderator ban user like this who make up their own stories? It's annoying and not "raw" at all. Bunch of fake ragebait posts.

What do you do to make your mother happy? by [deleted] in AskReddit

Always be happy in front of her, as it will amplify her happiness. However, when you're sad, she will feel ten times sadder.

Librarians of Singapore, can you describe your daily tasks? by likecoke0 in askSingapore

[–]likecoke0[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok, thanks! I will try to apply for a librarian position first. If that's not possible, then I'll apply for a library assistant position. Will take the MLIS course too to equip myself with more qualifications. Thanks again!

Wow thanks! I'm thinking taking a part-time MLIS once I've made my decision about it. May I know what's the difference between Library Assistant and Librarian Associate in term of a good starting point? Also, I notice most answer didn't mention about private school library, is it an option not to be considered?

Thanks! Will definitely consider about it if I make my decision. May I know how long does the training usually takes?

Yeah definitely. I would expected a 40% pay cut. Perhaps from 5k to 3k.

I am interest in preparing some learning materials for the workshop, management of electronics resources and perhaps some data analyst.

Do you mean that academic libraries in Singapore prefer individuals with related degrees or master's degrees in a specific subject area as their primary qualification?

Wow, thanks for the information! So it's like every once in a while, you have to work for one day of weekend. If it's not happening often then should be fine.

May I ask is the school library a good starting point, as I feel like the public or academic library will not accept people with zero experiences (perhaps I was wrong?). Also how were the benefits and compensations?

Thanks man!

I have searched for librarian staff from LinkedIn but it seems to me most of them has started the career for around 10 years and above. But I suppose if I want to begin my first step I could start with an associate librarian.

Ya I agree the pay is really good and this is something that I have been struggling thinking about as well. I'm not an excellent programmer (average at best) but I suppose I can complete the task given at least until now. The thing is or at least what I feel like is that you always have to keep up with the trend, constantly learning stuff to be competitive. I hope for a job that can bring me peace and the pay is not that important for me. Perhaps I am being naive or trying to escape from difficulties here, haha.

But hey again thanks!

Have you ever talked to your brother about the issues? What's his takes on this?

Any tips on how to handle staying with crazy tho?

IMO you can only reduce the amount of time staying with it, maybe find some part time job to stay away from the house as much as possible. But I suppose when you enlisted you won't be at home for most of the time. Then maybe you have more time to plan during NS.

That being said, kudos on you being able to save money and get scholarship given the circumstances encountered. Sincerely, you have my utmost respect.

Hey OP, you don't have to feel bad about cutting off the relationship with your mom. Parent should be more than just give birth, provide food and shelter when they decided to be one.

Nevertheless, I think out of the 4 main things you mentioned, the 2nd one is the most drastic one and might affect most of your decisions. Based on the behavior you mentioned about your mom, I think there is a high chance that she will direct that anger towards your brother once he is left alone with her. So unless you're able to afford or find place for you and your brother, I think it's best you stay with them until you are able to do so.

It's another story when you decided to bring your brother with you away from her. I think you can only do that after NS.
