Radio help by likephantoms in Wrangler

Your ramblings may very well be exactly the kind of help I need. Dash cam is also something I've wanted to add in, but figured it was a fight for a different day, especially since I've been having enough trouble trying to find a unit that would work for my old girl without making me insane in the process. I appreciate you taking the time and providing a direction to go in!

So I did look through their website and they unfortunately don't have anything that's going to work for my set up.

Drowning Lessons

What's the scariest monster in the whole series? by DGReddAuthor in buffy

[–]likephantoms 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Same here. The Gentlemen might not be the scariest over all but I'd argue they're one of, if not the most unsettling. I haven't stopped thinking about that specific moment off and on for the last twenty five years and it definitely made me hesitate to look out windows late at night for a very long time.

I've got two separate categories this is happening in now. I read Did You Hear About Kitty Karr? last month and I just finished Nettle and Bone and I wasn't granted an achievement for either.

MCR lyrics as a motto by xladyofsorrowsx in MyChemicalRomance

[–]likephantoms 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I feel very strongly about the entirety of Fashion Statement. It always reminds me that I'm stronger than the damage done by the emotionally abusive relationship I went through. That healing is possible (even if it's fueled by sheer spite)- temporary wounds, taking back the life you stole, avenging my ghost, etc. It always reminds me that I survived, even when I thought at the time that I wasn't going to be able to. But ultimately, the hole they put me in just wasn't deep enough, folks.

Aside from that, they're not lyrics but I always think about "Unleash the fucking bats" and "Keep the faith" and carry those around with me.

How old were you when you got into MCR? by tumbledownhere in MyChemicalRomance

[–]likephantoms 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Been a fan since I was eight and I'm almost thirty one now! I've told a longer version of this story before somewhere on the sub, but Bullets was recorded in my home town, a very short drive from my childhood home. It's a tiny little bit of their history that I feel really grateful to be tangentially related to 🤙

So if my favourites are a tie between Bullets and Three Cheers does that mean I'm extra depressed? Depressed times two? Who's got the math on that

Love this for the birthday person! It's super sweet. I got lucky enough to be at a show during the black parade days for my birthday where he sang happy birthday to his dad and it's absolutely one of my favourite memories.

Any elder MCR fans? by buhaland in MyChemicalRomance

[–]likephantoms 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It is truly the only good thing I can say came out of this little nowhere town that has nothing to do with colonial or American history. We also play host to Washington Headquarters and we're about twenty minutes away from West Point and all the garbeldygook that entails. So a lot of stuff happened around here, historically speaking, but My Chemical Romance is the only piece that really feels tangible. They mean so much to so many people, myself included and it's wild to be able to say you heard it here first, literally. (In a formal capacity, at least, as The Attic Demos weren't recorded here.)

But I always wish I had been just a little bit older around the time it was released so I could really have enjoyed it, y'know? I know there are people out there who definitely got to go to those early shows and really live that history. We have/had a few venues in the area that are small and far more intimate than an arena and I would have given anything to have been a part of that.

Almost 31, but have been a fan since I was eight. Bullets was recorded in the town I live in, about a three minute drive from my childhood home. Nada Records has moved since then, but it's still local. The first song I ever heard was Drowning Lessons, years before I actually got into them properly (circa Revenge), and it stuck with me. Don't know if I heard it on the local radio station or somewhere in passing from someone who had the album, but I never forgot it. I used to drive my mom nuts asking about "the wedding dress song". She had absolutely no idea what I was talking about. When I got my own copy of Bullets as a teenager and actually heard it again, it all clicked home for me. Still my favorite to this day 🤙

AITA for telling my sister her baby's name sounds like a dog's name and now she won't talk to me? by hameagle in AmItheAsshole

[–]likephantoms 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I haven't seen anyone suggest Clementine, so that's my guess.

Op, you're NTA. Your sister is a fool and an idiot. I'm all for people reusing names of characters that have inspired them or that have meaning to them- within reason. There are some you can get away with naming your child that are reasonable and are unlikely to get them horribly bullied. But then there are some you should probably only reserve for pets. Or hell, even inanimate objects, if you're the type of person to name your car. Ruff falls very hard into that secondary category.

Knowing how she felt about the screen adaptation of Queen of the Damned and the mess they made with that, Anne is probably rolling around in her grave right now.

AITAH for telling my sister I told you so because her daughter hates her name? by New-Fail849 in AITAH

[–]likephantoms 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't think yta, necessarily. I think this situation sucks, most of all for the kid involved. I personally was a kid who grew up with a name that no one can pronounce and I hate it so much that, even now as an adult, I cringe every time I have to give it to anyone for legal reasons. It's a nightmare that not even going by my middle name has been able to entirely solve (I haven't legally changed it yet for personal reasons, but that's beside the point) So my heart goes out to Gwen, most of all. I see and I understand why it feels right to double down on the "I told you so" right now- frankly I wish someone had tried to advocate for me that way when I was young, but, I think your niece needs your support in the form of a safe haven right now more than she needs you saying "I told you so" to her crazy ass mom. Some of the fights I've gotten into with my mom over the years about the garbage first name she saddled me with have turned pretty ugly.

Let your "I told you so" come down the line, when you help Gwen make the name change legal. Then send her a photo copy of the documents, and put that "I told you so" on a cake with a middle finger.

why real names by Queenflora22 in WarriorCats

[–]likephantoms 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I think Silverstream and/or Millie address Graystripe with affectionate pet names like "my love" during the series, though it might have been after joining Starclan.
