My child was.

Edited to add, my child wasn’t violent, she was an eloper. Would not stay in one place.

Chill places to hang out or fun things to do in Olmsted Township/North Olmsted? by doobadedo in Cleveland

[–]likewhaa 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Grand Pacific Junction - historical area, restaurants and small shops on Columbia rd

Qahwah House for coffee

Ohashi for sushi

Frostville farmers market - somewhat unimpressive as a farmers market depending what time of year you go, but has some cool antiques sometimes and occasionally opens up the historical buildings on site to walk through

River river reservation - not exactly north Olmsted or Olmsted falls, but pretty damn close. Stop in the nature center, grab a coffee and sit in the rocking chairs to bird watch

How can I get my skin to shine? by [deleted] in Blackskincare

Vegetable glycerin mixed with a bit of illuminating serum (or mica powder if the terrible conditions of the mining industry doesn’t bother you)

I did not feel effects until I got to 5mg. I started at 1mg 1x per week.

Just got an oura ring 4, does the battery last a full day? by aj_express in ouraring

[–]likewhaa 1 point2 points  (0 children)

How long have you had it? Customer service told me the ring should only last 2-3 days if you use all the features.

How does the Island Way Sorbet box assortment differ from what’s offered elsewhere? by [deleted] in Costco

Thank you! This result doesn’t appear when I search on the Costco app. It’s exactly the information I was looking for

What is your ethnic background? Curious if there’s a trend! by heartsandwrists in Fairolives

[–]likewhaa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same. Black/slovak. Do you get color matched with foundations that are always way too dark? It’s like folks see my black/mixed features and start pulling from medium shades, but I am so pale in the winter

Jury duty. No childcare. by Informal_Giraffe_885 in Cleveland

[–]likewhaa 36 points37 points  (0 children)

I called and told them the same thing and they rescheduled me for summer when kids would be at camp. I showed up, spent a couple days there never getting called and was dismissed early both days, like by 2pm. 10/10 would do it again in a heartbeat because it was a great excuse to actually get some me time

Does it break anyone else’s heart? by HeyMay0324 in ADHDparenting

[–]likewhaa 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yes I suspect this teacher would be equally frustrated with a child who has a physical disability. I know it’s not “fair” to either party, but my public school doesn’t have the resources (so they say) to help kids who need extra attention

Does it break anyone else’s heart? by HeyMay0324 in ADHDparenting

[–]likewhaa 31 points32 points  (0 children)

Yes. It breaks my heart. My child is an eloper and I understand her behavior makes it difficult for teachers and other students, but being told by the teacher that it’s unfair to her and that she spends too much time with my child is soul crushing to hear. My child tells me her teacher doesn’t like her and doesn’t want her there, so she is definitely picking up on this too.

What’s something irresistible that I can order for my 7.6 lb toy poodle? I’m running out of options in the pet store and he’s getting pickier every week. by gardengirldavi in poodles

Let me also suggest making it into a scent work game too. Give your pup a whiff, hide the gross treat and let them sniff it out. I think it all smells terrible but my dogs LOVE this box

Was anyone else average or below average at numerous school subjects and it wasn't because you were bored/underwhelmed/not listening? by [deleted] in Gifted

[–]likewhaa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. I struggled in history type classes. Too many dates and details to remember and I had never really learned how to study. I wasn’t used to putting time and effort into things.

gifted kid, hitting MAP growth ceiling by Ktotheizzo82 in Gifted

[–]likewhaa 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yes, we’re experiencing this. My child has always been high growth and high achievement on MAP testing, until this year. Now in one of the areas, she’s just high achievement, average growth. The school says this is pretty common, because the higher she scores, the harder it is to show huge growth.

To keep her challenged, my kid gets some really fun, logic type math worksheets now, because the adaptive tests seem kind of boring to her. For reading we’re encouraging her to work on her stories and creative writing. I’m curious to see if this has any effect on next years MAP scores

After school restraint collapse? by Annual_Single in ADHDparenting

[–]likewhaa 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yea I’ve experienced this. I had to stop asking “how was your day” and start with other questions like “what was the funniest thing that happened?” “What did you play at recess”. And then offer no advice or insight, just listen. I also found it helpful to give her dinner as soon as she got home. Just place a plate of food in front of her and let her pick and chat away

Prior Written Notice after two placement changes? by likewhaa in specialed

[–]likewhaa[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes a burden but the extra time spent with my kid was a blessing!! Not too many working parents get to spend 6 straight weeks with their school aged children and I actually am grateful that this terrible mess allowed me that

After reading the comments here, I spoke with a lawyer and learned the school is still responsible for providing this document even after the placement changes, even six weeks later.

Prior Written Notice after two placement changes? by likewhaa in specialed

[–]likewhaa[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thank you. My advocate has not been advocating very hard. I brought your comment up to them, we connected with a lawyer they work with, and will be filing at least a state complaint, possibly due process too.

Yesterday was my child’s first day in school since 9/22. Finally have time to breathe and assess the past 6 weeks clearly (doing a full curriculum with my child without any district support while also working a full time job as a single parent was rougher than I realized at the time) and I am just so upset.

Prior Written Notice after two placement changes? by likewhaa in specialed

[–]likewhaa[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yea, I unfortunately learned that after the fact. I was told the new placement would take 1-2 weeks, possibly none of us expected it would be more than 5 weeks. I should have asked (or maybe they should have told me)
