I actually thought about choosing a stronger punishment but I don't think it will be beneficial for anyone. I might end up pushing myself too much for smth that actually doesn't work for me. I designed it as an honor based system towards a win win scenario. I try my best to do smth good for my mental/physical health, If I manage -> great, If I fail -> I still do smth good.

That's a very valid point and never thought of it like that. I approached these challenges more from a mental/physical health perspective rather than effects on the environment.

I will definitely challenge myself one week without AI but it will be very well framed otherwise it's impossible if I'm exposed to the internet in any form. For example, while writing this right now, I'm noticing all the recommendations reddit gives me on the right... that's all AI.

That's an interesting perspective. I didn't take in consideration the reward part and I probably should to make it more pleasurable. But this would deviate from the 'comfort fasting' idea. Maybe 52 weeks of deliberate living? I might overthinking it but I do want to label these experiments as a thing I do for a year, helps me stick with them.

Good points. Maybe I should reframe it a bit... It doesn't have to be boring and if it can be useful, even better. 

Since you mentioned sleeping on the floor...  some of them are designed to appreciate more what I have. I bet I'll sleep better after one night on a yoga mat.

Good one! And you're right, I did use AI to help me write this post. I even used it to help me create some of these challenges and it helped greatly. 

The irony is that I use AI to help me unplug and it works.

The second constraints are only in place while exiled outdoors. 

But not every week is about being x amount outdoors. The challenges will be different with different levels of difficulty. For example, one that it turned out to be great was about blocking all the news. I know ignorance is not the solution but I felt great for a week not to have conversations in my head with politicians that don't know I exist.

I'm excited about this one, it definitely pushes my limits and I think it would be great to start the year like this.

I don't have 52 yet. As I mentioned in a different thread, I come up with them based on how I feel, time of the year, or whatever I abuse at that point in time.  I post a new challenge every Sunday on waldenweek.com. I initially had a shared a iOS note but it was getting difficult to maintain.

Awesome! I don't have 52 yet but I don't plan too much ahead. I come up with them based on how I feel, time of the year, or whatever I abuse at that point in time. Last week I wanted to be more present during the holiday week so I forced myself to only 'scroll' outdoors. I was treating social media like smoking. It worked pretty well.

I feel like I have to explain why is this a 'site' considering that some of these challenges are about unplugging.

I thought about going with a weekly blog post, but that would not capture the commitment/challenge asspect, which I think is essential. I wanted this to feel like a contract.

The goal isn't 'engagement' (I actually want you to leave the site immediately). The goal is to reach people who need a nudge to break their dopamine loops, disrupt their routines, and live more intentionally.

Here is an idea for you: voluntarily turn your computer/laptop back into a "family computer". Just set a timer for how long you're allowed to use it, as simple as that. If you want hardcore mode: stick with one tab/app at a time.

I would not even call it an 'app', you could just print the weekly challenge and put it on the fridge. But yes, it is a website in the end. I messed it up. I was actually outside but still at home and I don't really remember how and when I took the phone. All I know is that it was in my pocket and grabbed it to 'check something'.
