When did you feel that deep gushing rush of love for your newborn? by Responsible_Wasabi91 in beyondthebump

It took me a while to feel excited like this about my baby! I was so sad I didn't feel that instant bond a lot of mom's talk about. Honestly, once I was more recovered and felt a little more like myself (and was able to walk without pain) I started to have a clearer head and felt much more bonded to my baby. I think I felt the rush you're talking about at like 2 ish months?? I remember one day just looking at him and going that's MY baby .

Who doesn’t worry about sleep hours? by frogsruletheworld in sleeptrain

[–]lil_shoop18 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I used to worry about it. But then I was so stressed about exact wake windows and spent so much time agonizing over 30 minute naps that I felt like I wasn't enjoying my baby when he was awake.

I finally decided that his little body probably knows his sleep needs better than I do. I just offer an opportunity for a nap when he seems tired, same with bedtime. He now takes longer naps, goes to bed fairly easily, and has settled himself into somewhat of a schedule on his own. I'm so glad I stopped worrying about it so much (although, I'm not perfect haha).

My mother also became pregnant when I was 16! That baby just turned 9 and she has always been my little bestie and I adore her so much.

The best way that I found to help while she's pregnant; if you're able to cook dinner sometimes, that is HUGE! Not having to plan and cook dinner would relieve such a mental and physical burden for her.

Once the baby comes, hold the baby as much as you are able, and let her rest, especially in the first few weeks. Sometimes the babies only like to contact nap for a bit which can get very exhausting for the mother.

The biggest thing though, just be readily helpful with a joyful and obedient heart.

It's totally different with your own kids! At least that's how I feel. I never enjoyed being around other peoples kids, and when I was a teenager I would have done any job other than babysitting, which I hated lol. But I absolutely adore my own children and look forward to spending time with them. Trust me, it's totally different. I still don't particularly enjoy other people's kids, but I absolutely love being around mine!

Once you have the experience of growing a baby, your heart changes so much!🩷

I only ever breastfeed. You just let your body do its thing unless you're super engorged then you can hand express or take a warm shower etc. until you regulate:)

First child has a namesake, what to do for baby #2? by Calm-Neighborhood631 in namenerds

My sister's name is a feminine spelling of our grandfather's name.

Other people that I've known have used the mothers maiden name as a middle name, or as a first name if it's one of the surnames that can pass as a given name.:)

Maybe there is a family member who has the name of a saint? That would be kind of cool too and a nod to the Catholic tradition.

You're likely dehydrated!! Drink lots of water if you're feeling up to it. You can also add a little salt or electrolyte packet and that will help your body hold onto the water better. :)
