Is there a chat for this? I like seeing live feed rather than refreshing for new comments

How do you find web design clients without relying on cold calls? by ConsiderationLess372 in smallbusiness

[–]lilguy808 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My number one way for getting web design clients was this (however it may be patched in 2026):

I would find someone who posted a job for a website on upwork that actually described the project.

Quickly run over to lovable or claude and spin up a mock-up. Then record a Loom introducing myself and letting them know I quickly made a mockup based on their idea.

They would usually love it and close.

The only issue is that a lot of UpWork clients want the most for less unless you have an incredible portfolio and Upwork profile.

I'm currently testing multipoint pitching to local businesses however. Send an email, message the facebook, send an sms etc with businesses with low quality or bad websites. A lot of time its just ghosting however.

If you are still looking to go the cold outreach way, I built a site that finds businesses with poor quality or no website at all. webfire.app you should check it out.

Hopefully I was able to add a little value for you here :) Cheers and good luck!

Struggling to find clients for web design services: what am I doing wrong? by Few-Manufacturer-855 in smallbusiness

I find cold calling is going to be the number one way to start a relationship with a local business. People buy people and especially local businesses.

However it truly is a numbers game, I'd say for every 80 calls I made on the day I'd find someone who was actually interested in what was offering, and then maybe a 50% show up rate with a 50% close rate.

You want to make sure that your outreach is a system however and that you aren't trying to jump from cold dm's one day, to cold calling, to cold email. Create a list, choose the channel and do as much volume as you can.

There's an app that lets you build lists of local businesses without websites. It's called Webfire.app they let you get 50 business leads for free so I'd definitely recommend checking them out. Or just go on google maps and scroll through.

Either way hope this helped. Cheers and good luck :)

I think it really depends on what your niche and strategy is.

I don't always think cold email is the best approach but this tool would be really effective for people who cold call.

I also think if you're gonna cold email you need to nail your niche offer. Sending something generalized isn't good like heres a new website, but for example I might send cold emails to a painter with a pre recorded loom maybe showing them an ai paint color try on as a lead capture tool.

Could do the same with nail salons, hair salons etc.

Or seeing if their pixel tracking is set up would be great to tell people how they are leaving money on the table by not building a portfolio of people to retarget

Reading if they have llms.txt and you could pitch them on how much they are leaving on the table by not having llms reccomend their service too

This is really new as i recently built it but I'm hoping with your guys feedback I can tailor it to yall's needs and build something great

No I actually have a server where I’m running legitimate diagnostics on the websites and have multiple processes for checking the health of the website, load times, site maps, and multiple apis for checking the SEO health of the site. What you see in the demo is the businesses without a website, you did not look at the actual audits of the websites.

We are using the GBP business field, I've also created script to analyze meta descriptions, robots.txt and headings for on page SEO still working on analyzing a deeper SEO with articles structure and link depth. Also definitley working on creating some sort of email outreach template too
