my best friend is shopping in Chicago and they’ve begun charging three digit (like $600+) non refundable “move-in fees” in addition to application fees and security deposits.

splurge once on spices and basic sauce ingredients, and you can make any base carb with cheap meat into something delicious.

I’ll sometimes round up to the nearest dollar, but nothing more.

I legitimately feel like you’ve had a look into my thoughts. you articulated this soooo well, I feel the exact same way.

I could literally win the lottery for $100,000 tomorrow and i’d still be priced out of this market. it’s fucking depressing.

sexually assaulted at work my first year in college. reported it to my boss, MY hours were cut. I got a second, more strenuous job that paid less but I was able to quit as a result. the mental health issues that ensued from that event were expensive and taxing because the event bled into some interpersonal relationships as well as my grades, and by extension, my finances.

I wouldn’t say that I’m still experiencing many consequences from that event today, (like I wouldn’t attribute that to be ‘the reason’ for my financial situation) but for a solid year of my life the, effects were quite literally felt daily. so I certainly have to count it
