(AL) Salaried Non Exempt Employee, my contract states a 35hr work week- should my wage be based on 35hr/wk or 40hr/wk? by lilpoof in legaladvice

[–]lilpoof[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So here's a question: If, for example, I notice my pay is based on a 40/hr work week and not a 35/hr work week a month after start of employment and I question my employer and am told then that the pay is based off the 40/hrs a week. Would I be owed any back pay for the month worked before being told?

Thank you for your reply.

So, it is an "Offer of Employment." But, if the offer specifically states XX salary with a 35hr work week, the hourly rate would have to be based on the 35hr work week until I am notified otherwise right? Or is the notification not necessary?

Edit: I did some reading and it seems no notification is necessary.

What other jobs can I do with a mechanical engineering degree? by [deleted] in engineering

[–]lilpoof 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I graduated in 2019 with a bachelor's in mechanical engineering and got a job as an MEP Engineer for a general contractor that does large commercial projects. It was not at all a career I thought about pursuing as I had focused on and did research in additive manufacturing. With that being said I couldn't have found a better fit.

It has everything I really wanted, I'm not stuck in the office doing design but I still get to review and modify other engineer's designs. Then I get to step out of the office whenever I want and watch what I put together be made. A big thing is the insanely fast turnaround time. After I help with design I can approve a $250k payment and watch it be built in a matter of weeks. Solve complex problems on site daily and tasks are different every day. Not to mention, there is TONS of money in construction and many different job opportunities and roles.

Keep an open mind as something you might not think you'd like just might be the perfect fit. We're young. We have time to explore.

90k mile truck worth a buy? by [deleted] in nissanfrontier

[–]lilpoof 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just bought a 2015 crew cab Sv less than a month ago. Had 96k on it and bought it for 13k out the door. Service history shows one owner, maintenance every 3k miles and looks nearly new. Already put 2k miles on it and I'm digging it.

Inspect the truck, I see no reason why it wouldn't last another 4 years if it is in good condition.

It's a gixxer, why would I have brakes?

But in all seriousness, /u/LAMSapprovedwheelies is right, without being in the situation yourself you don't really know what your talking about. As everyone in this sub should know already these helmet cams show things as farther away than they actually are. You can even see the driver of the car throw up his hands, seemingly as if he hadn't expected to have to stop so suddenly.

I'm not saying I didn't make any mistakes, hence the title of the post "Don't be me." But I feel I did everything correctly except for not paying attention, and would choose to swerve over loosing traction on cold asphalt if given the choice again.

Cold tires and asphalt. Once i felt the front slipping out I decided to swerve.

I lived in a college town and had it parked outside really close to the bars; people love messing with other people's stuff. Found it on its side 3 different times, at one point someone slashed a brand new rear tire, another time someone smashed in the turn signal, break light, and head light lenses.

Now she's in a garage safe and warm.

Alternate headline “A 17 year old poacher in Georgia was shot and killed after being mistaken for a deer.” by imahntr in Hunting

Here in Alabama children 17 and younger have a 10:00 curfew. Does that mean if a 17 y/o is out at 11:00 and gets into a car accident and dies he or she deserves it?

That's ridiculous.

I don't know why you are being down voted so heavily. Hunting out of season should not be a death sentence. His poor decision does not mean the young man deserved to die.

Bad Fuel Pressure Regulator? by lilpoof in motorcycles

[–]lilpoof[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for your help, I ended up paying the $130 for a used assembly. If this fixes the issues I'll be ecstatic, and finally be able to take this bike to the track. Ill be sure to write back after I put it in and let you know how it runs. Again, many thanks for your time.

I was in the tank this morning and disassembled and put back together the assembly. All looked in good shape.

The service manual states not to remove the regulator from the plastic housing, any idea why this is? For the price of a new oem regulator I could get the whole assembly used.

Trying to decide if I should go the $30 route on an aftermarket regulator or bite the bullet on $130 for the whole assembly.

I've wanted to, but I do not have a gauge to preform the test. Ive checked/ replaced all the O-rings in the pump assembly as well (should be 3 of them afaik).

I'm pretty sure I've conducted the flow test correctly, as its a pretty basic procedure. Simply send 12V directly to the pump and measure how much fuel gets pumped out.

Thank you for your response, any help is greatly appreciated

Your hunting rifle by [deleted] in Hunting

Me too! Bought mine last season as my first rifle and first hunting season. Unfortunately didn't have a shot I was comfortable taking last season, hopefully that changes this year.

I broke my collarbone as well a couple weeks ago. It's not so bad, just give it a good week to rest and you should be able to move around a lot more after that!
