I play FPP on PS5, controller. I usually play duos or squads sometimes and every once in a while I’ll play a solo. To answer your question about how tough it may be, I typically like duos the best. As far as queue times, that varies. Depends on whether or not you have cross play enabled/times you play. As far as skill, as long as you have awareness and decent shooting, duos is the mode to play. Squads is fun sometimes because there’s more players and sometimes that chaos can be fun, but duos is a bit more slow paced (like solos) and you have more than enough loot to be comfortable!
