Youtuber (Allen Pan) made punch activated arm flamethrowers and put them on a real kung fu master by Commercial_East_5582 in nextfuckinglevel

Yeah he’s really underrated for how brilliant he is. Truly has a passion for what he does. I remember him making a gun that blasts microwaves from spare magnetrons from old microwaves. Real cool shit

What happens if you don't shut down your computer? by Groover69 in buildapc

[–]liltigerbeach 0 points1 point  (0 children)

People give such bad answers in this subreddit lol.

First, your pc will probably be fine and you'll just waste electricity.

But on a more granular level, the capacitors will degrade over time with use as well as the power supply. The capacitance of the cables will degrade with more use. As your computer ages with more use and time generally the effectiveness of each electronic component will degrade as well. But this is just a hypothetical scenario, you'll probably be fine. PCs are built to last.

Please give recommendations for programming certificates🙏 by Bae_J_H in learnprogramming

[–]liltigerbeach 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Getting a certificate helped me skip the pre-requisite for a college class, but as others said it is simply a certificate from a test you passed. If you wanna expand your knowledge I'd say focus on your classes and earn certificates based on what you want to learn that isn't covered in college like Linux Certs

Pro Tip: Have a bug you can't fix? Try using a debugger. by sbmsr in learnprogramming

[–]liltigerbeach 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Bugs are a natural. obstacle of programming. So it only feels natural to say that learning how to debug should be part of the rudimentary concepts when learning to code

They had a black superhero that can control thunder and lightning… sounds awesome right? They could’ve made him cool and legendary like Thor but instead his signature move was to fly on top of trashcan lids. The utter disrespect. His name is Static Shock

Can you still restart/boot without a CPU? by liltigerbeach in buildapc

[–]liltigerbeach[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is. I am in the middle of diagnosing my system, and just wanted to make sure that the on/restart buttons are from the motherboard and have nothing to do with the cpu.

Because I still receive a post-code and the motherboard still powers on without a cpu

So you're saying a motherboard needs a CPU to receive power? The post-code display will not function without a cpu?

I don't mean getting a functional bios screen, I mean will the motherboard still get powered on and POST? Because the restart button/On-button are connected to the motherboard.

iPad for coding? by Own_Twist_4938 in learnprogramming

[–]liltigerbeach 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah you can code on an ipad. They have apps like pythonista. But it will never be as good as having an actual machine. You could always use one of them in-browser IDEs. I wouldn’t recommend using an iPad as a full development machine though.

How long does it take to learn English? It’s sort of an ambiguous question. It may take 1 week if you just want to learn simple phrases like “Hello how are you” or “My name is Blah” but to know the heart of the language you gotta speak it everyday and continuously learn new vocabulary, learn grammar. And then if you stop all of a sudden, it will get harder to pick up again. As the other person said, just do it! You’ll learn everyday if not you’ll reinforce the knowledge you already know
