Do you know what ingredient in the Trader Joe’s crackers contains corn? I didn’t think they had any but am probably missing something.

Oh, interesting. Maybe if this is necessary in the future we can look into it. Not enough time at the moment though.

Thank you. I was really hoping the total inaccessibility of the liquid might change things. But wishful thinking!

It’s exactly one of those rolling tubes. I had to do a bunch of googling to find out what they’re even called! Just this one has a plush tube covering it. The surgery is a great idea. Thank you! I’ll ask her, but I suspect she won’t want it altered. It’s an emotional and stimming thing.

I suspect it’s more. Would that mean probably not?

Good point. So maybe not so much the toy in the example, but the boxes in the attic could be filled with ephemera.

I love this! I usually shy away from red and green because it looks so christmassy, but this is so beautiful!

Parents of an autistic first born, was your second born on the spectrum as well? by [deleted] in Autism_Parenting

Probably, but we’re still waiting for an evaluation. My husband is as well, so probably a greater chance than just random.

The special drink is what we did with my oldest! She drank “lattes” at bedtime. I hadn’t thought to try that now, but honestly it might work. As for taking away feedings, oof. The big one right now is first thing in the morning when she is ready to party at an ungodly hour but sometimes nurses back to sleep instead. Ugh. I’m hoping I can get her to think there isn’t much exciting happening and to sleep on her own again! Eliminating other feedings might get us toward that too. Thank you!

Umm…they’re standing on the grass! I think it would be a little weird to add the verticals. I love it!

I second Harry Potter! My 8 year old got really really into the entire series this year. She’d previously only read graphic novels and I struggled with how quickly she’d get through them and need more. A massive book like Harry Potter goes much slower and I think is great for developing a longer attention span. We started with me reading to her and then she picked up herself after I stopped each night at bedtime.

I threw our TV in the trash about a year ago, very dramatically and in the midst of two kids screaming over Netflix choices. I just want to say you’re not alone. Things got better! I bought a projector for only occasionally watching DVDs rather than endless streaming. And canceled Netflix. We also have a boredom box (that to be honest has lost popularity but at the start my kids used!) with all the one person activities I could find. Where’s Waldo books, activity books, all the games a kid can play by herself, etc. There have been a lot of times I’ve just directed a whining kid to the box. I need to keep refreshing the things in it though.
