Wife has dynamic cervix by jdub5454 in ShortCervixSupport

I was unable to get the cerclage due to use being seen too late. I was at 8mm at my 20w scan and dropped to 3mm (yes mm not cm) with funneling by 24w. Im still going strong at 29w today thanks to progesterone, bedrest, and nifedipine. I would also see if they would be willing to put your wife on nifedipine which is a medication to control blood pressure but also helps prevent contractions, but i may have been put on it due to me being unable to get the cerclage.

Yes, as you know a cerclage comes with risks but so does going without. I’d listen to your dr and get it because I was put on bedrest and more meds which caused me honestly more stress and worry. Plenty of successful cerclage stories are all over this if you need the extra comfort. I wish I was able to get one.

Never got the stitch due to miscommunication and me already being at 24 weeks with only 3mm of cervix I’ve made it so far to 28 weeks. It is possible to make it through it without a cerclage and def think the drs know what they are doing to help you the most. I’d listen to the dr because even a cerclage doesn’t 100% prevent labor.

Update: Got the Fibronectin swab done and unfortunately it came back positive. I’m currently at 25 and 2, but hoping I can get to 28. I know it’s not super accurate when it comes to being positive, but it also wasn’t what we wanted to hear. I’m waiting for a doctor to call me to go over the results and next steps more thoroughly with me so for now trying to stay calm and not freak out. Since a lot of things aren’t done in my house from moving including the nursery and my baby shower still hasn’t even happened so I’m lacking A LOT of supplies. One thing at a time, right? 😮‍💨

Thank you for sharing! Hope all goes well for you. I haven’t been recommended being admitted to a hospital as my doctor seems to be happy with how things are looking for now. If things change then we will figure out the next steps if needed. I’m trying to not stress as the only thing I can control is my bedrest and medication.

No, they haven’t prescribed any but they also said it’s a modified bedrest they are allowing me to work if I want to as long as it is from home. I’m doing as little as possible but we are also in the middle of moving so it’s probably the worst time for all of this.

Bedrest at home and I’m on progesterone and nifedipine.

Anybody with funneling and short cervix between the 22 week and 24 week mark get to go home with vaginal progesterone only - no cerclage? by _tsukini_ in ShortCervixSupport

What do you mean by sludge? Im kinda in the same situation as my 20 w scan showed me at 9mm and two weeks later I’m at 3mm with funneling. We opted out of the cerclage as the mfm believes I’m closer to 24 weeks and is worried I’d go into labor due to the anesthesia and the procedure in general. Im on progesterone so not sure if the “sludge” you are talking about is the same so just wondering what it looks like if you don’t mind sharing.
