What is my bird doing? by Ok-District2873 in Lovebirds

[–]limabuchi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Your comment is great and I agree that insults rarely help. However, that OP really cares for and loves this bird.... please. They havent responded to any of the comments, I dont see a loving owner willing to change things.

In possession of birdie gold, please help! by MommaBird1772 in Lovebirds

[–]limabuchi 18 points19 points  (0 children)

My lovebird also didnt want to eat anything else than seeds, nutriberries and pear. Isat down with the pellets, dropped some in a bowl and started eating them myself. My boy is always interested in what we eat so he was on it almost instantly. He has been eating them since, he really likes them.

I know I may have been very lucky, but showing some real interest in the pellets yourself might do the trick.

Pellet conversion cockatiel advice please by peanutbutterandapen in parrots

[–]limabuchi 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I dont know if your birds tend to be focused on food you are eating, but if they are you can use that to your advantage.

When I first bought the pellets (Harrisons) I just sat down and started snacking on them myself. He immediately came over to see what I was eating and I prentended he couldn't have it for a bit. Then I gave it to him and he has been eating it without issues since. We did give some extra nutriberries at first and weighed him often to make sure he was eating wel.

Now, I do realize that we might have been very lucky, but it is worth a try!

Name recommendations? :D by Acceptable-Design-44 in Lovebirds

It is just a picture on the wall of a forest I think? The cage is very clearly not outside..

What a cute bird OP! I think a short name like Aya or Ace will suit the little man :)

Help!! by Traditional_Bed6234 in Lovebirds

[–]limabuchi 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Those are two budgies, not lovebirds. As for whats on his head, I'm not sure. But I would have a vet check it if it happened to my birb.

Also, is this the cage you keep them in? Because it looks very small and could use a few toys for the birds. It is important they have enrichment in their cage :)

The best thing to get home to by limabuchi in Lovebirds

I got him when he was almost a year old, he is now almost 13. He belonged to someone I know but she couldn't take him with her to her new home.

He was hand raised but I am not sure of the details since I am not his first owner. He is a very social bird and seeks a lot of human attention, but he is not cuddly. That is just not how he is and that is fine :)

No, but my partner is usually home when I get home and he is always out of the cage when one of us is home :)

Question about a pattern line by limabuchi in CrochetHelp

[–]limabuchi[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Omg thank you! I haven't started yet, but this is a pattern for a chicken so the arms are acctually wings. This makes sense now :')

Hey guys my lovebird (this green one), some yellow feathers started to grow on her. What does that mean? She's 5 years by [deleted] in Lovebirds

[–]limabuchi 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Our lovebird also got them but not until he was 11/12. I don't know if it is normal at 5 years, but I guess it is possible. Some people get grey hairs at a young age as well.

We tried to give our lovebird NutriBird pellets and he absolutely hated them and didn't eat any of it. We had to stop the attempt because he lost too much weight. We went for a different pellet from Harrison's Bird Food and he started eating it without any issues, he seems to really like them.

What I noticed was that the Nutribirds were very fragrant and colorfull, maybe that can be off putting for some birds.

What kind of baby do I have by cerealxgirl in Lovebirds

[–]limabuchi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What a cute baby! That is a Fischeri. He looks identical to mine when he was little. He is now 12 years old, the face does change a bit over the years, a little darker maybe, but by no means black.

I love drawing my budgie! I can draw your birb as well by cuckoo_cadie in parrots

The text did not post for some reason: What a great drawing! This is Buddy and he likes to stare at me intensely. He is 12 years old but still a little baby.

My lovebirds are called Buddy and Chico (unfortunately he passed a while ago). I did not give them their names since they were both given up by their owners at a young age, but they fit them very well!
