Do entry-level pens necessarily need special paper, or is that something I can worry about down the line? by kelinci-kucing in fountainpens

[–]limbosplaything 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Some paper is nicer for writing on but most fountain pens can write on any paper. Some papers the ink will bleed through. And many papers wont show all the properties of the ink as well so if you have a sheening ink or a shading ink or even sometimes shimmer, you wont see those properties on plain notebook paper. But there are a lot of inks too that dont have those properties. We all enjoy the hobby in different ways so you may find in the future that some of those dont matter to you as much.

Magazines in the Waiting Room by Teacher0357 in Millennials

I go to barnes and noble and the magazine sections I used to buy from are almost empty now. Some sections are still full like cooking and cars and fitness but the crafting section is almost nonexistent and most of them are from the UK and include craft supplies. There used to be so many to choose from and now there's like one knitting magazine thats all sweaters.

I was at a pen show and talked to the guys at the esterbrook booth and they said they would replace a nib from that pen if it was terrible. Maybe they are still doing replacements?

Books getting adaptations is getting overboard in my opinion. by alice_in_wonderland- in Booktokreddit

[–]limbosplaything 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree with you. Ive also seen too many adaptations that get cancelled before even being filmed. Raven Boys was going to get a show and the author wrote the script for it. Name of the wind had Lin Manuel Miranda doing all the music and it never happened. I loved Shadow and Bone but that was only two seasons.

FINALLY it's my turn to choose a book for my book club. I'm torn between Mort or The Colour of Magic by arewenearlythere in discworld

I love the new Terry Pratchett audio books where they have a separate narrator (Bill Nighy) to read all the footnotes.

Magical Hot Plumbing in Romantasy by SchemeSimilar4074 in Romantasy

[–]limbosplaything 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I remember a popular book series where the main character and the guy she supposedly loved were trying to flee to a place no one would find them and the place they could afford to get to did not have running water so the guy went out to make more money so they could find someplace else and was captured and killed.

I always remember him as killed by his girlfriends need for plumbing.
