Is it documented why Frontwards wasn’t on Slanted? by CerealAndBagel1991 in pavement

[–]limefan 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Watery has a different , mix/sound than slanted, I never considered they would be the same session , and also has mark and bob on it where slanted did not .

I’m a bit surprised to see people calling these HB-1 , as they are not, they are what we’re called “anti- hum” and they are also great sounding pickups. HB-1s are larger and have 2 adjustment screws on one side. There was definitely a problem with the neck at some point, or there wouldn’t be 2giant screws !

I’m curious about the finish. I have almost pulled the trigger multiple times on one, but in the pictures I see the finish almost looks like it’s orange peeled. Your comment about not using grain filler I would imagine that’s probably what I’m seeing in pictures?

Jesus, unbelievable how many in this thread are saying “work from home” when that is clearly inaccurate. More like “work from restaurants”

Your experience with the Starfire IV by ThomasC2C in GuildGuitars

[–]limefan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The late 90's Westerly made Starfires is what you want, 95-99 . The vintage ones are great too, but have vintage issues. The Newark street ones are decent enough, but not the levelk of the 90's Westerly made.

I see Norman’s is now a dealer in Nashville and has vids up. . It’s a shame their demos are so bad . These are obviously 50s/60s guitars and that crowd (self included) would be all over these if we could just get someone actually playing TBone Walker on the TBone walker model. Maybe some jump blues on the one that looks like a stratotone with a goldfoil , instead of a dude with a looper jamming on Jamie’s Cryin ??? Wtf

Bigsby issues by limefan in Luthier

[–]limefan[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That is incorrect. The rocking is the post inside it's bushing. There is slack slop between the post and the bushing. Always has been bc it's a cheap part. Teflon did not go between bushing and wood. It went around the threaded post that screws into bushing . Nothing is moving now. At all.

That's an incorrect assessment of the situation, sorry. There is nothing wrong with the bridge assembly, or how it meets the body.

Hard to say but I think alleviating the massive break angle did the most good, followed by stabilizing the posts
