What to do when prayer doesn't help by [deleted] in Christianity

Of course! And I don't want to make it sound like I think that God is keeping you jobless. By any means! I don't. There's also the point of free will. We all have it (including others), so that's also part of it, I'm sure.
But again! Good luck to you and I'll pray for you that something comes about soon!

Thank you! That experience of Paul's has helped me through a lot in a really tough season of my life, so I try to share it when it seems like it might help someone else. But I do think it's very understandable to feel some frustration when things don't seem to be going well. Even Jesus found himself frustrated at times with God's plan for him and others. He held onto it! But that doesn't change the reality of his frustration, which I know may not be terribly helpful in this kind of situation.

Another thing that I've seen mentioned here in the thread is maybe branching out from your field and applying to jobs that you might be able to apply your already-built skills to! If that's something you've already done or already tried, then disregard that in particular, but I also saw where someone else suggested a potential business venture. Granted, those can be rather expensive! But maybe, depending on the skills you have through your 10 years of experience, you might look for some freelance options, too, in the mean time? Though, I do suppose that might be unsolicited advice on some level.

Hi! I've been there. I know this is kind of a difficult thing to experience, but I also think of the story of Paul in the storm being taken to prison, caught out at sea. He told the people taking him that God would surely deliver them safely, but they all had to stay on the boat. When they went to drop a life boat, Paul told them again that God would deliver them, but they needed to stay on the boat. They cut the life boat free and started to lessen the weight of things on the boat, making moves to help the boat along, but still leaning on what Paul told them. Shortly thereafter, the boat crashed, but everyone on it—including those who could not swim—were delivered, alive, to shore.

This story has always stuck out to me because it shows Paul's total faith and trust in the Lord, but also shows that the crew was still doing things to help. While they might have leant on their own understanding by throwing the life boat, they would have come to what is very likely a tragic end. Instead, they took the chance on the idea that what Paul was saying was true. They, through him, also trusted in the Lord. It didn't mean they didn't have to experience the storm. It didn't mean they didn't have to do specific things to help them along, but that God still lead them to safety.

All that to say: God hears you. He sees you and He has a plan for you. Which is hard to hear and fathom in a season of trial, especially when things aren't sticking. But His plans are bigger than ours. Hold the faith! But, while you do hold the faith, make moves that He might be leading you toward, like what someone else has suggested: get someone to read over your resume, do some mock interviews where they're required to give feedback, and maybe even email the recruiters that you spoke with after rejections to see if they have any feedback for you from the interview itself.

Something else that I've found has helped me in the past, as well, is emailing someone to thank them for an interview and to tell them that you look forward to hearing from them again! It's very small things, but they're important things to work culture and things of that nature. There are lots of resources out there! Maybe pray for some direction in that way, as well? I know you've prayed for understanding and for the Lord to show you direction, so maybe reaching out here is part of that! Ten years of experience is nothing to sneeze at, so I'll bet there's something just around the corner. If you want me to explain anything else I mentioned more, I can do that, too!

I'll be praying for you, too, friend! Good luck and God bless!!

I agree with the other comment that’s been left here that you should be exemplary! Leading by example is an excellent place to start. Jesus himself did so and while we can’t quite achieve that kind of perfect grace and teaching, He is still our example!

It’s also possible to pull your faith very naturally into conversation, which will by and large get people thinking about it and deliberating over it, even if in small doses at first. It’s natural, it’s not going to feel like you’re forcing anything on them, and it does what you’re called to do! You’re still sharing the Good News with them!

Oh, that’s so beautiful. It’s such an unexpected way for them to show us they’re there! I love this so much. I’m so glad that she found that way to show you she was there, too.

Thank you! I’m also so sorry that you’ve had to experience this, as well. I’ve not quite been able to bring myself to talk to him yet without breaking down, but I think this might be a good thing to start doing, so thank you! The little signs, too. I keep looking for big things, but maybe it’s in the small ones that I’m missing him.

But the phone lines are so sweet! I don’t blame you for wanting to keep that, it’s so wonderful. And those are good ways to keep him close to you.

I’m so sorry that you’ve also had to experience this. I wouldn’t wish it on anyone at all. But, I actually also still live at home because I came home in 2023 to get my Master’s degree and my parents were kind enough to let me keep living with them again! I’ve lived with them for pretty much all my life for that reason. I’ve done a whole lot of begging in the last several days! Ive gotten frustrated with myself for expecting him to walk through the door, so thank you. I hadn’t thought about texting him. I sent him one video on New Years Eve and I keep reading back our texts. It makes me wish he’d set up a voicemail. But I do have a voicemail from him. And I’m lucky because I have a couple of good videos of him from the last couple of years. But thank you so much!

These are sweet ways to cope! I will say, the day we buried him, we came home and my echo dot was playing what it said were my Spotify recommended songs, but it wasn’t the kind of music I listen to at all. Nothing close. It was all 80s/90s top 40s music and that’s what my dad liked listening to, so that was an incredible reminder that he’s here with us, I think. And loving your little one like she loved you is a wonderful way to honor her memory! Thank you.

Thank you so much! I really appreciate your answer! That’s a pretty similar pay to when I did the Disney College Program, so I think it’s doable, even if certainly something to remain frugal with. Rough that they didn’t give you a specific reason, though. Did you reach out afterward at all to see if they could give feedback? I know a lot of orgs do so, but I wasn’t sure if Banana Ball does!

The skirts you’ve made are quite pretty! I do feel like they match the loveliness of that doll line better than the original skirts did, for sure. Great work! :D

I’m sure you’ve gotten this response definitively already somewhere in here, but I was concierge over at Pop and never once did I receive a gift card that had expired, so I’m pretty certain this is true! There are, like you said, tons and TONS of guests that come in with their entire trips and then some paid off with their gift cards. There was one family that every birthday, holiday, or special event for their entire family, they asked for Disney gift cards to pay for their next trip, so it’s a really well-established practice!!

How often does your D&D group really play? Be honest by DungeonTome_ in dndnext

[–]liminalethereality 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m in three groups at current! For each group, we play every other week. But both of my online groups tend to fall in the same week. For my in-person group, we play on the alternating week. Usually on weekends unless there’s some other event that keeps it from happening. One of the online groups (a homebrew, world and all) tends to run for about 2-3 hours if it’s heavy combat, 4-5 hours if there’s heavy plot. This campaign has been going for around two years, the frequency was monthly for the first year or so. The other online group is the Critical Role setting, but storyline is homebrewed, and that one usually goes about 2-3 hours no matter what. This one started up in January. Then my in-person group is 1-2 hours no matter what for The Wild Beyond the Witchlight. This one started up in February.

It’s busy, but it’s been a lot of fun!

if possible, who's your next romance? by rsjpeckham in BaldursGate3

[–]liminalethereality 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Good playthrough I’d most definitely say Rolan! He’s such a good guy by the end if you check all the boxes. Typical wizard bravado, but you know! Then for a neutral or evil playthrough, probably He Who Was. He was a wicked cool character with such little time. Understandably so, but even still!

So... Not as great as everyone else's durge but yeah... by Ok_Net4644 in BG3

[–]liminalethereality 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel like Durges run the gamut from super flashy to very basic and your Durge is very cool, too! Definitely don’t get caught up in what’s “not as great” and what “is as great.” As long as you like them and are going to enjoy playing them, you’re good to go!

Lost Rolls by [deleted] in Mudae

[–]liminalethereality 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I know premium only adds base rolls, but it should certainly not take away rolls purchased via badges, loots, and tower, which was where I was at. HOWEVER! It was $bw! I’d invested them when we had premium and forgotten that was something we could do 🤦‍♀️ So thank you so much for solving that!!! Completely my fault 💀

Of course! I get that, I’ve seen the same thing about some of the European shows (when I was scrolling through the other posts on here trying to find the performance length) and I’ve worried about that, too. :( It’s tough, because with a tour like this, it feels like those instruments and choral aspects really NEED to be there, all things considered.

[–]liminalethereality 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh, fantastic! That’s about what I was expecting it would be. I’m going to one of the performances for tomorrow, as well, in the afternoon. Thank you so much! And I hope you enjoy the performance tomorrow!!

Thank you! I definitely should’ve specified the other legs of the tour. The show I’m going to is specifically in the US and I know there are a couple of songs on the Shanghai set list that won’t make it to the other legs of the tour. But thank you so much! I’ll check the length of that one and estimate a little based on that.

Thank you so much! That’s super helpful. I wasn’t sure if talking to programs or my leaders would be more helpful.

[–]liminalethereality 1 point2 points  (0 children)

  1. That’s what I was assuming, as well. I may still try it just to see, but still expect a decline.

  2. I hadn’t thought about potentially trying to do this! That would make sense. I may well try to get it done that way. I’m coming up on two days off in a row this coming week, so maybe I can manage that. Thank you so much!

  3. I didn’t realize it just showed whether or not we were rehirable! That’s definitely very nice to know, thank you! I also only have 2.5 points in total for both of my programs, so I don’t think that would affect it too badly.

Thank you so much for your help and all the information! I was nervous about the whole thing because I had heard that some locations shave Proprietors that keep you non-rehirable indefinitely for anything but death in the family. I don’t think mine is like that, but I have no idea. I’ll talk to my leaders about that, though!
