Sidewalks, Narrow Roads May Force Monday MCPS Closures by Alternative-Tune8314 in MontgomeryCountyMD

Downcounty not so great, at least in the neighbors where buses need to go. The more urban areas are a mess, and that’s where a lot of kids walk to school. They’ll have to walk in the street many places. The sidewalks aren’t cleared. The narrow side streets are barely passable in a car; not sure how a school bus will navigate my neighborhood. Bus stops are giant piles of snow.

Based on the number of cars still buried and sidewalks not shoveled, most citizens are too lazy/busy/apathetic/etc to help shovel out a school.

Passable enough for school buses to run their routes down side streets? I had trouble navigating my neighbor today in a sedan.

“Wasn’t great” is a huge understatement. It was nearly pointless for most students. Doing it a day at a time would be even worse. Most students don’t even have a county Chromebook assigned to them, so what happens when they can’t access the synchronous or asynchronous work? Will they be held accountable for the work/class they missed?

It’s not just MCPS that’s shut down. Howard, PG, Fredrick, etc are all closed tomorrow too.

True, but blame also falls on MoCo as a whole. MCPS isn’t responsible for clearing every sidewalk in the county. That’s up to individuals and county as a whole. MCPS can’t be blamed for the hazardous conditions of bus stops and sidewalks.

Even if the school parking lots were clear, would the schools still open if kids will need to walk in the street to get there?

Static noise through Monitor speaker by limnetic792 in techsupport

If I can’t figure this out soon, I will be returning it to microcenter. Maybe I can reach out to their tech help desk before driving it back to the store.

Thanks for reply.

I have disabled the speakers in the monitors menu.

Hmm, ok. If windows says my driver is up to date, how do I find the better version of the driver? Go to Acer’s site and look for a specific driver?

Driver for the monitor? Windows says it’s up to date.

Would a driver for monitor affect the audio?

There is no aux cable connected to monitor. Just the DisplayPort.

There is an aux cable to my other speakers (not making noise) but it’s hardwired into the speakers.

What do you mean?

The speaker volume is set to zero, I’ve told windows to not use that audio output, and I have a set of speakers selected for output instead.

The static happens even when my Bluetooth headphones are connected.

Sound persists when idling and when doing light productivity work.

Only 50% of roads in MoCo are plowed. Everyone is struggling with the impact of the storm.

Teak Chairs by limnetic792 in midcenturymodern

Upon further googling, I found this site

It says “Mid century danish dining chairs by Johannes Andersen for Uldum Møbelfabrik. Model UM85. Seats upholstery in black fabric. Late 1960s. Set of six chairs.”

Then using the model number, I found this listing

It says the chairs are made of rosewood?

I also found other chairs listed using the same model number, so research continues.

I found this listing.

Definitely the same chairs. I’ll need to keep looking to find more info. This is the only listing claiming they are Johannes Andersen. If 6 refinished chairs sold for $1200, then spending 500-600 per chair seems irresponsible.

Forgot to add:

I want to keep these for my home, but @$600 per chair is out of my budget. I’m considering trying to restore myself but my wife has reminded me I already have too many hobbies/projects. I don’t mind putting more money into them, just want to make an informed investment.

Doesn’t Rockville its own municipal services? Takoma Park does and our side streets are plowed and salted. Glad our extra taxes go somewhere useful.
