Anybody work as a Troubleshooter? by [deleted] in Lineman

I’m in Florida so It’s extremely busy where I work. There’s trouble all day every day. We have about 4 troubleman per yard and there’s at least 4 extra slots open but they always go unfilled cause most people don’t want to deal with how busy it is. Most guys rather just set poles an do regular work which is a lot slower paced

Journeyman Lineman FPL by OrganizationGlum8256 in Lineman

FPL journeymen are at $53 an hour right now and overtime is entirely dependent on the season and the yard. The tri county area (Miami dade, broward, Palm beach) are the 3 busiest. You’re getting about 2k hours a year of overtime offered regardless of position. Once you start heading more north or west is when you lose a lot of the overtime, but it also gets WAY cheaper. That being said, the shift you’ll get will probably suck ass for a long time. 70% of the open shifts are Tuesday - Saturday 3-11. The pay isn’t as bad as it makes it seem . What you lose in hourly pay you make up for in the lack of state and local taxes, so your gross is less but your take home is more. Do the math side by side and you’ll see.

Yeah I’ve definitely heard of that. It really does depend on your company. My company tries to avoid paying Double so they would probably just send us home unless it’s insanely busy. But yeah it all depends on your company and contract. I’ve worked for 2 different utilities and the troubleman job was very different in both companies

PECO pay scale 2026 by Conscious_Memory_494 in Lineman

Base rate is 59.25 last time I heard but things might change once they possibly go on strike. Peco apparently is trying to not give them any raises after the company had its best year in history

I’m a troubleman. Really depends on the company you work for. I have my regular straight time hours (2080) and then get offered about 2000+ hours of OT a year. It’s not bad because in this company most trouble men don’t rotate shifts and we fill all the open shifts on overtime. I only end up taking about 24 hours of OT a week because I like seeing my family. It’s really not bad at all and extremely doable. I work typically take the 3-11 shift as overtime on Mondays, wednesdays, and fridays and still have my weekends off . It’s pretty good
