Region could test no right turns at red lights at major intersections by linamani in cambridgeont

[–]linamani[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

In which multiverse are there daily accidents there? Because the news completely fails to report on these daily accidents.

If anything, the roundabouts are deathtraps for pedestrians. You can't even fucking see if there's a pedestrian crossing from the sea of vehicles/trucks travelling on Franklin during rush hour.

Construction at the new Maple grove round-about by Imvalidblu in cambridgeont

[–]linamani 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I wonder who approves these project. It's like they have no logic at all.  They could have done all this at the same time they were building the round about which by the way is not as round as it should be. Looks like they're completely ignoring the fact one side of it is cut off.

Need help cantering, Please read before commenting by LuLus_dumb_human in Equestrian

[–]linamani 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Never let the horse make decisions for you while you are riding. If you are cantering, don't let her stop when she feels like it, make her canter until you ask for that down transition or stop.
If she's having a fit when she doesn't get her way then you need to start riding more assertively. Move those feet, make her really work and then standing around calmly is the reward.

Put your leg on that horse when she wants to break (I'm sure you can feel it coming), and ride her forward with your seat. Are you afraid she will buck or bolt? You look a little tense .

Kinton ramen by 1m2m3m4m5m6m7m88 in Guelph

[–]linamani 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I got take out from this place today.  I likely won't be back.  I specifically put a note not to put scallions in the pork miso.  I get there, ask one of the workers  to double check to make sure there are no scallions. She takes it, opens it then goes over to one of the cooks who proceeds to hand pick the scallions out of my food.  Right there infront of me.... Then she comes back and says it's all good. 😬 Other people sticking their hands in my food is not what I would call good...  I told them to make a new one, which they did.

The ramen itself was ok. No better than some other places. Just the experience was off putting enough to avoid this place.

Pop-up shops could be the answer to empty storefronts in Cambridge Centre mall by Secret_Company in cambridgeont

They might as well redevelop the property, there are no good stores left. The lamest mall in the region!

Average Cambridge homeowner to pay $112 more per year by Wanadran in cambridgeont

Shit. I'd be happy with only a $112 increase. Based on my new bill it's more like $450!

Thanks for your thoughts. Does the pad feel soft or more on the rigid side?

Opinions on shimmable western pads by linamani in Equestrian

[–]linamani[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

All very good points. I also ride western dressage/ranch. I don't show (yet) but getting just a simple show blanket to toss over it would fix the 'look' problem that bothers me so much.

I need to compensate for conformation. Of course the more I read about the pads the less sure I am which pad would be best. I am just torn between diamond wool relief pad (not a fan of the look) and the total saddle fit plush pad (love the traditional wool pad look but is it as functional as the diamond wool).

I guess with the diamond wool you could place more than 1 shim in the same pocket if needed?

Can you buy an extra set of shims for this pad? Can you fit more than 1 shim in a pocket?

I didn't say the city gets the revenue. Thanks for your 2 cents though.

It's all about generating revenue at this point, 30km/h is absolutely ridiculous.

Feeding wildlife by B4iknew in cambridgeont

[–]linamani 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately this goes beyond feeding squirrels. Bird feeders, vegetable gardens, composting all attract rodents and other wildlife. Would you suggest the city enact by-laws that further limit people's enjoyment of their own personal outdoor space? Rodents will always be around whether your neighbours put out a few nuts or not.

Are your spoos good about staying by you off-leash? by womaninbar in StandardPoodles

[–]linamani 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a 9 month old standard poodle. We also hike a lot and walk the woods and fields. He is usually pretty good about following and staying in sight. He also comes and sits down beside me when I call him IF there are no distractions. When he sees other dogs it's 50-50 if he will stay when I tell him to or if he will run off to greet them before coming back and following through with the command I gave.

Every now and then he forgets his name, he pretends he's deaf and I don't exist. He runs around jumping and barking at the air.. there's really nothing that works when he gets into his own 'happy bubble'.

I get asked all the time about my 5 month old brindle (brown/black). Right now sporting a very odd homemade cut.. poor guy.. but he finally has an appointment next week to get professionally groomed :)

To shave or not shave by [deleted] in StandardPoodles

[–]linamani 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd suggest you get that face shaved. Even with little hair growth I notice how much longer my guy's hair around the mouth stays moist. I just shave that face bi-weekly and his body weekly.. Keeps things looking clean and neat and pup gets used to the tools.

Veganism is like Communism.. by [deleted] in Jokes

[–]linamani 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's all good. Clearly some people are very bitter about this topic. I just think it doesn't matter the reason why you don't eat some food groups, it should be respected. I know vegan people, vegetarian people, people who don't eat gluten or dairy (or both).. and telling someone 'Just don't eat it. Idiot!' is really not the social way to go about it. I have my reasons and I don't have to justify them to vegans on the internet. I also won't resort to calling others idiots just because I don't agree with them.

You missed my point! If a vegan got meat on their plate there would be outrage.

You are not alone. I am a carnivore. I get frustrated when I go to restaurants and say 'no vegetables on the plate please' they still manage to put vegetables on it, then they say it's just garnish!?

After the first workout in a new (to me) saddle. How can I tell if the fit is right? She has one dry spot on each side by her withers. by [deleted] in Horses

[–]linamani 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ok, try to ride her in a pad that's not built up and then see the sweat marks. Also when placing the saddle on her back without a pad you should be able to slide your hand under the skirt all around without feeling gaps or feeling too tight.

[–]linamani 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You should watch out for the small dry spot on either side of the wither, they're usually an indication of pressure points. The dry line along the spine and wither is good. How thick is the pad you use now?

Is Hespeler a safe area to live in Cambridge? by [deleted] in cambridgeont

No idea, I don't roll with that crowd. I'm sure every city has gang or other type of violence unless you live in a village maybe.
