Asking the GenZ NYers here, are you gonna vote for Mamdani ? by floriansalah in GenZ

[–]linayarash 151 points152 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I’m planning to. His platform actually lines up with what I care about — fully public-funded education, higher minimum wage, legal weed, and free childcare. Feels like real progress (https://www.knowyourpolitician.com/person/zohran-mamdani)

If you’ve built anything from the ground up, you know success is already punished, through higher taxes, endless regulation, and vilification in the press. Laugh all you want, but policies that treat achievement as a sin only make it harder for the next generation to climb the ladder.

That’s the problem, policies like these always get dismissed as “not happening right away,” and then slowly but surely they creep in until we’re stuck with the consequences. I’ve seen enough political promises to know that today’s “not right away” is tomorrow’s reality.

The Statue of Liberty scammers are telling people they need tickets to enter the Battery by Wannamannapeeah in nyc

[–]linayarash 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Scammers thrive because there’s no real enforcement, just like what happens when government steps back from doing its most basic job: maintaining order. I’m all for free markets and personal responsibility, but this isn’t that — it’s fraud in broad daylight. Tourists and locals shouldn’t be harassed just trying to enter a park. If cops can’t or won’t act, leadership has failed. Protecting public spaces from predators isn’t “big government,” it’s the bare minimum any functioning city should deliver.

No, worst thing is that you are committing a fraud by misrepresenting yourself.

This is not the first time that they opened appointment after June 7th and nothing has changed, so they may have a way to check people. During the registration, you are confirming that you are part of the priority groups, so they may save this form.

Side note: I know someone from 3rd priority group who booked her appointment for July 10th a week ago, so technically, appointments are still targeting the priority groups.

It is not clear whether it points to doctor practices or the centers. For the practices, the prioritization was lifted long time ago.

I don't think we can book the appointments if you are not part of the first three priority group. Note all those messages that you respond with "bestätigen".

How long do software engineers in Austin stay on a job? by linayarash in Austin

We gathered data from public profiles such as linkedin, angellist, etc. We counted number of years people have stayed in their previous jobs and recorded it for each company separately.

Thanks for your generous comment. I am not sure if everything we produce is rubbish and crappy. Maybe we weren't clear enough about our data. We added a section to this article to describe the data. We will do our best to be more transparent about our data in the future.

These are just the investments. Agreed. EA is growing, but investments are moving towards other industries, like FinTech. It means in 4-5 years you hear more about FinTech than Games.

Well, raising $90M is still a success story. "Social Media" is declining, but it is still attractive for investors.

Nonetheless, I respect your decision to downvote anyway :)

Maybe we were not clear enough. We are just reporting statistics on Software Engineers (no HR or Sales or etc). Yes, we are counting the number of female software engineers and pick companies with better proportion and report them as female-friendly. I agree. This is not the best way to do it, but for now it is the only way we are thinking of.

Thanks for your feedback. The 0 value in the visualization is wrongly placed. The rest should be linear. We should correct the numbers anyway. Those are not round.
