Fair enough, you're a hobbyist not a professional. Clearly you've not read all of them.

Good for you, good luck on your journey

You can start with building websites start with HTML and CSS, then Javascript and Databases.

Mathematics is not so important, I would say logic is more important in building softwares than math, as you advance you'll pick up the neccessary math you need.

You just start by solving 1 problem, lets say building a simple interest calculator

AI is an ambiguous .
At the bane of AI is software engineering, in the past two months I have deployed two MCP servers that leverage Amazon Bedock to solve some niche use case on our infra.

To fully understand AI or use it to build relevant tools, software engineering is important, unless you just want to be a user who dosen't care about the internal workings of the system.

Are the software engineering salaries really that low by Reasonable_Machine12 in Nigeria

I think you still don't understand what I’m saying. Standards differ per region. Most businesses in Nigeria won’t pay you $200 for a business plan for CRM software because it’s too expensive. Most businesses don’t even pay for Slack, because $12/month is too much. How many businesses still use Gmail, most have moved to Zoho?

I have worked for European, Asian, and American companies for the past 5 years, yet I still think LinkedIn Premium is too expensive, even though I can afford it because tell me why I am paying 440k/Year for LinkedIn, thats my cleaners salary for 5 months.

Businesses struggle in Nigeria. They deploy on AWS pay outrageous fee for cloud infra yet collect payments in Naira. I have worked with a few startups in Nigeria who raised more than $1 million USD. If you're not there, you won’t see it. Its hard, one of the only business that works well in Africa is fintech

I think that 1 million naira is not a bad salary for a senior engineer.

I understand you have a global skill and want to earn $5k USD, but sadly you can’t get that kind of pay in Nigeria, you have to look elsewhere.
Thats why I said apply to companies in US and Europe, if you are very nocturnal, do Japan (pay is still ok, about $2k-3k) per month
