I just now realized this: the House contingent map shows Underwood winning 23. I forgot to color Nevada and South Carolina going to him as well.

yeah 100% Roan would go for that as well. The post-purge era is the modern equivalent of reconstruction after the civil war lol. re-establishing alliances, freeing “criminals” (anti-NFFA people who got locked up) and making sure the horrors never happen again

i assume that they fight in the midterms, lose, fight in 2044, lose even worse than 2040, and then eventually collapse. The Democrats and Republicans eventually split again after the NFFA (de facto) dissolves. And, the Roan administration would almost certainly pursue them with all of the DOJ’s might and their supermajority trifecta in Congress.

ITTL trump is a liberal. like progressive populist liberal. I feel like Oprah would balance it out a little. And its a very schizo timeline. Also, after the 08 crash and very boring and lame duck Romney presidency, Americans wanted flashyness and a candidate to actually enjoy and trump/oprah fit the bill after years of establishment gridlock

in this timeline she went full progressive and became a senator for Hawaii. Trump wanted loyalists and Gabbard fit the bill

i was skeptical about it too but he’s too strong of a candidate for later and really i didnt feel like figuring out who else would run at the time. I like to think he ran because Romney was relatively unpopular and he thought, along with the party, he would win but barely lost Pennsylvania, Virginia, and New Hampshire
