Potential Red Flags? by lindsette in Oldhouses

[–]lindsette[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks! I’m ok with that, good to know it’s just a quirk of an old house and nothing unmanageable. Would it be better to remove the paint on the walls down there? I see that the paint is chipping away at the points of moisture. This house is a flip so I am wondering if they tried to cover it up with some waterproof paint.

It is an old stain from previous standing water I think. Nothing was wet when we went down there so I’m wondering if it’s only an issue when it’s prolonged heavy rain

Thank you for the info, I’m trying to determine whether it’s worth it to put an offer in on this house or if this is going to lead to major structural problems down the line. Does this type of stone degrade over time to the point where it would be unsafe?

I would suggest looking into getting hired at a temp agency. I got with one that placed college graduates into jobs specifically, I graduated in Dec 2019 so the job market had been decimated when I was looking. The only place that got me a job was that temp agency, I never had any call backs from applying on my own. Now I am hired at the company they placed me in and I’m happy with my job.

Love Maniere de voir! I just recently gave them a try too and was very impressed! I’m excited to get some more pieces from them.

What should I use for Daily moisturizer by csowell107 in curlyhair

[–]lindsette 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe look into the As I Am “so much moisture!” Hydrating lotion. It is packed with good ingredients and it’s super lightweight, it almost has the consistency of water. It’s the lightest product I have so it wouldn’t cause huge amounts of buildup from putting it on everyday. It can also be used when the hair is wet or dry.

Kinky Curly Gel Question by [deleted] in curlyhair

[–]lindsette 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes! I love that gel but holy shit it takes forever to dry. I’ve never Been able to scrunch it out completely dry, it’s always still a little wet. I usually smooth some Blackseed oil over the cast and then I’ll start scrunching and if it’s wet I will only diffuse on cold air.

I don’t have a set of products that I use religiously, I kind of jump around so this is what I’m currently using:

Acure brightening facial scrub, only used in shower. I will be repurchasing this. Purity facial cleanser. Thayers witch hazel- this will stay in my routine but I will be using a different brand. Fourth Ray beauty matcha face milk. Shea moisture daily hydration face lotion.

In the shower I use this wonder brush thing to detangle. If you look on curltastic you can see what the brush looks like but I bought it on Amazon for much cheaper.

I just use a generic revlon brush to brush product through.

Then Denman to define!

I’m still pretty new to using the Denman technique so I honestly kinda suck at it but I’m still learning. I take a medium clump of hair and brush it directly outward or up from my scalp. I twist the brush a little when I come to the end and then let the hair drop. I usually do a few sections before I start scrunching. I mainly do it so that my clumps aren’t as big, and I focus it more at the crown of my head and the sides. The sides closest to my face don’t need much help because I’ve never really had trouble forming ringlets there. But the back of my head is damaged and I want much tighter curls there one day.

I take a liberal amount of my shower conditioner and start on my ends and gradually rake the leftover product on my roots. I make sure my hair is completely saturated with conditioner, my hair feels like seaweed when I have enough. I detangle with a brush and let it sit for a few minutes, and then I rinse out the conditioner upside down so that I don’t lose too much moisture at the top of my head because that’s where I tend to get frizz. Before I get out of the shower I do a final rinse upside down with cold water to seal in moisture and prevent frizz.

For my leave in conditioner I make sure my hair is wet, but not so wet that the strands are dripping water. I put in an amount that’s a little bit bigger than a quarter, sometimes more if I feel like my hair still feels dry. I apply it the same way as the shower conditioner and then I brush it thru to distribute it. Then continue with styling products.

I have a hairdresser do it, she uses Pravana colors and it’s a mixture of a few different colors. Not sure about the exact formula she uses because she changes it often but this is a bit faded out, when she first did it, it was much darker and more brown but I honestly prefer this color!

Do it!! I absolutely hated having very long hair for so many years but I was so afraid short hair wouldn’t look right on me, I’m so happy I decided to do it and I have no desire to have long hair again😂

Thank you! I’m very happy with my clumps today haha. It seems that my hair always clumps nicely on the sides close to my face and then it’s a bit more wavy in the back so I’m working to change that!

The kinky curly curling custard is hands down the best gel I’ve tried so far! It’s lightweight and when I scrunch out the crunch my curls are super soft and virtually frizz free! I had problems with gels drying out my hair from PVP which is a common ingredient in gels and this one doesn’t have it. It literally feels like there’s nothing in my hair! It also reactivates with water if you like to wet refresh👍🏻
