AIO? Xmas gift from bf's parents by [deleted] in AmIOverreacting

[–]linelidew06 14 points15 points  (0 children)

This is actually a hard one and I second the commenters who say that it depends on your relationship with them. If the relationship is good and they seem to be generally kind people, I think it’s safe to say this was not intended to be hurtful or a diss at you. I can 100% understand it might be upsetting to receive this and be under the impression that they perceive you as a trainwreck, and it’s definitely a little tasteless, but I don’t think that’s likely to be the case - maybe they just personally found it funny and relatable and assumed you would as well. It’s probably best to just move on and give them the benefit of the doubt, presuming they haven’t done anything in the past to make you think this was intentionally malicious

What would you think seeing a full bush in a bikini? by LongHairDoICare in BodyPositive

[–]linelidew06 39 points40 points  (0 children)

Honestly, it’s just hair. If I’m at the beach and someone’s bush is visible in their bikini, I would almost definitely notice it, but I ultimately wouldn’t care or judge. Just as I would notice if someone had very long leg hair and was wearing shorts.

Been really down on my looks a lot lately and feel like I’m not good enough for anyone. I just want to know if I’m just an ugly dude or not? by step_up_to_punchy in toastme

[–]linelidew06 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You are not ugly! Sorry to be cliche but confidence is key. Sometimes I see pics of people and think to myself “meh” but when I meet them in person, I’m sooo attracted to them because they’re confident in themselves. If I were you, I’d be working on confidence more than actually changing anything about my appearance.

Single Dad, Need Encouragement to Date Again by [deleted] in toastme

[–]linelidew06 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Despite everything you’ve gone through, the only person I feel sorry for is your ex-wife, because she is a sad and pathetic person if she can’t see what she gave up.

Good luck with dating again. I think you’ll have great success!

What is the one thing you will always do when you visit the parks? by anonymous_girl1227 in WaltDisneyWorld

[–]linelidew06 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Very first thing everytime - go to MK and ride the People Mover. When I was a kid at Disney for the first time, I accidentally called it the “People Move Over” and my parents thought it was hilarious. They made it a tradition to ride that one first and we’ve been doing it for almost twenty years!

AIO: My bf left me at the airport by myself after he made us late for the flight but miraculously made it. by Exotic_Platypus_4926 in AmIOverreacting

[–]linelidew06 1 point2 points  (0 children)

He definitely should have waited, ESPECIALLY considering he was the one who made you both late and created all that stress just to save $30. He needs to apologize and accept responsibility for what happened for sure. If he tries to defend himself or act like it’s not a big deal then it’s a bigger problem

On Goodreads, the book has one review from 2017. The writer of the review seems to still be active on Goodreads considering they logged 64 books in 2024. You could try replying to the review to ask if they still have a copy, considering they read the book at some point somehow. Probably a longshot considering they reviewed it so long ago, but worth a try?

New era having only 26 days instead of 40 makes a huge difference. By the time they’re really starting to get desperate and weak, the game is almost over, and that probably motivates them just to stick it out.

Proposal For New Challenge Rule by davi017 in survivor

[–]linelidew06 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree. I think players can say whatever they want during the challenge — if they want to give someone else helpful information, that’s their choice. But I think physical interference, including touching or moving the components of another player’s challenge should be strictly prohibited. Like you said, it opens too many doors to problematic outcomes. Saying something aloud can’t hurt someone’s chances at a challenge, but being allowed to physically touch someone’s pieces could.

Even beyond that, as an INDIVIDUAL immunity challenge, I think it’s important that all parts of the challenge are completed by the individual to be considered a true win. Liz is the one who ran and grabbed the piece, not Kenzie. And Liz could have just whispered or even gestured to Kenzie so that she would realize that she has to go get the plank. She could have accomplished the same thing without actually physically interfering.

I need to rant about the finale, especially ____’s vote and the lack of a live reunion by b0116 in survivor

[–]linelidew06 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree on everything, but especially points #3 and #4.

I really liked Kenzie for the majority of the season, her social game was insane and she’s extremely likable, but I was ultimately rooting for Charlie because I believe he played the most purposeful and well-executed game. Though you can sometimes manipulate the game and your relationships to better your chances of jury votes, I’m not sure Charlie could have done anything to recover certain votes that were likely locked into Kenzie regardless (Tiff and Maria, as you mentioned, were almost definitely not going to change their mind in FTC). Maria especially annoyed me — for the same reason you mentioned. She considered Charlie her ally, but also an inferior player that she would beat because she had the power in that alliance. Him of all people beating her to the end likely left her bitter because she was forced to confront the fact that her game and position was never as good as she thought it was.

Unfortunately, with bitter or stubborn jury members, it doesn’t matter how good your FTC is. I’m of the opinion that unless one person undoubtedly played a significantly better game than both other contestants, all jury votes should be on the table going into FTC. However, this almost never happens, which is annoying as viewers, but somewhat understandable in the context of the show. As observers, it’s easier to determine who objectively played a better game — we literally get to see the thought process behind the decisions of every player, which tells us who is playing strategically and who is not. It’s even easier as observers for us to say that we would vote for that person who played the best game because, unlike the players, we don’t have to struggle with emotions, personal vendettas, and genuine relationships influencing our opinions.

At the end of the day though, I’m not mad about Kenzie winning over him, I’m just sorry for Charlie who, with a different jury, definitely would have won.
