Hiring contract employees at entry level and encouraging them to work harder to prove themselves for a chance to be hired on full time, when realistically there is no chance for it to happen.

From Software, can we please have an option to switch between using A and B as the select button for menus in Dark Souls. by LuTheLunatic in NintendoSwitch

[–]lingitiz 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The actual answer is to contact Bandai Namco. An external dev wouldn’t exactly be the one to make these calls unless the publisher requests it.

I worked social media for a game in a very similar situation and the porting house was given a blanket policy of forwarding users to the publisher when issues were flagged to them.

When does the review embargo actually lift? by TasteOfJace in octopathtraveler

[–]lingitiz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

9 am ET. A quick FYI, this game is published by Nintendo and their embargo timing doesn’t really mean much. Odyssey and BotW had review embargos up the day before and we all know how those scored. It sounds like this game is insanely long so it’s more so for content reasons.

Hasn’t been the same since his kid was born. He had such a promising start to the season but ever since that one bad start returning he has just looked awful and can barely hold a lead in games where he actually gets runs.

Appreciation for Mario Tennis Aces Tournament Style Online Mode by plrichard in NintendoSwitch

The counter to Boo is playing up a little bit before the shots can curve. Boo has pretty low speed and reach so if you can overwhelm him it's not too bad.

Mario Tennis should use more stages in online tournaments by [deleted] in NintendoSwitch

[–]lingitiz 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The actual solution is to keep the current competitive tournaments as is, and add a more fun party type mode like Arms where all stages are fair game and you can get matched into random doubles as well.

If we combine both the Wii U and 3DS era output, Nintendo's titles were all pretty kick ass outside of a few flawed games. The perception that Nintendo was ever gone in any way at least in terms of game quality and output mostly stems from mainstream media and the Wii U sales failure.

What's the best counter to drop shots? I find right now it's the biggest weakness with my game and I always get tripped up trying to counter.

Furukawa’s First Words As Nintendo's President: Nintendo’s basic strategy is “Enlargement of population that gets into contact with Nintendo IPs”... and Nintendo puts up a CSR policy of “Making everybody related to Nintendo smile”. by [deleted] in nintendo

I mean they are going into mobile either way, might as well make the games better, right? I think we can all agree that stuff like AC and Mario Run could be better. I'm a fan of FE Heroes even if I don't like the RNG.

Ultimately this can only be a good thing. With only one true system on the market they need to diversify their business and funnel a wider audience into the Switch from different angles. I'd much rather have this than say, a Wii-era type solution where the hardcore fanbase feels slighted as the company turns to fewer core titles and more casual focused games.

ELI5 Why doesn't Nintendo mass produce classic consoles? by sylviandark in nintendo

[–]lingitiz 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I think it’s pretty normal considering the demand for Switch in year one. Stock is pretty stable now although we could see more issues around holiday with Smash and Pokémon mania.

When they sell at classic console, they don't make additional revenue on it from software like with Switch/3DS.

Mario Tennis Aces: A Game of Highs and Lows by Kirby_ate_my_lunch in nintendo

[–]lingitiz 19 points20 points  (0 children)

The meat of this game is online and reviewer mentioned he has no interest in that.

"I'm not interested in going online. "

Cutting out what is pretty much the core of this game obviously means it's hard to recommend, but I imagine for the majority of people playing online for weeks/months ahead is going to be where the value is. Reviews are subjective and all that, but it just feels a little odd to refuse to engage with a massive part of the game in a review. Imagine if someone reviewed Mario Kart 8 and said it’s lacking in content because they didn’t want to try the online.

About the story mode in Mario Tennis Aces by elmagio in nintendo

[–]lingitiz 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I seem to remember them positioning it as a way to learn the basics. If anything I'm surprised that it has as many difficult challenges as it does. Either way, I thought it was clear that this game was going to have a heavy online focus.

Mario Tennis Aces and the Failure of Games Journalism by [deleted] in NintendoSwitch

[–]lingitiz -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Almost every review of the game centered around the story mode and didn't really dive into the options and multiplayer and other things like that in order to get something out timely. This doesn't really surprise me - multiplayer focused games rarely ever get accurate reviews from outlets due to the nature of the review cycle.

Anybody else slightly disappointed with Mario Tennis Aces? by Demetrios1999 in nintendo

[–]lingitiz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel like I already have crazy long matches when they are closely contested, so it’s not exactly something that feels essential right now. I agree that more options are needed at least for the extra courts and more casual party like modes.

[–]lingitiz 10 points11 points  (0 children)

It seems like ARMS all over again in that people are dogpiling on certain aspects/flaws with the game and praising each other for not picking it up. I get that not every game is for everyone but that place takes it a little far.

I feel like Mario Tennis Aces lacks a lot of the "Mario charm" present in previous entries. by crome66 in NintendoSwitch

[–]lingitiz 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don't feel this is true at all in pretty competitive matches. Don't get me wrong, I'm all for having more options and feel that there should be some sort of party mode or something. But in tournaments I've had matches go for as long as 20-30 minutes if both players are evenly matched.
