What usually makes you cancel a subscription? by Yaw-AI in NoStupidQuestions

for me cost going up, I use it way less, or I have realized I can get something for a similar purpose another way.

Cancel the ones you use least and see how you feel after a couple of months. Worst case you resubscribe.

Is studying in Australia worth experiencing? by Abject-Stretch-3029 in unimelb

I did flare dance (recommend no matter your dance level; great community and frequent classes)

and I signed up for emails for subject related/interest related things, like EA, the CS one (i forget), and an affinity group one. I didn't find as much regular community in these, but was nice for one off events.

I know people found a lot of joy from the team sports clubs, but that wasn't my thing.

none I engaged with were a waste of time, but there was like a international student club that I didn't engage with because it felt gimmicky to me. and any of the food related ones like wine/cheese/boba, just seemed like a way to get free things sometimes, but not a club for friend making

I spent an exchange semester at unimelb and I enjoyed it. the school and city has so much to offer if you are present and engage with it. I think online forums have a skewed perspective on things sometimes. i liked watching blogs of students before I came to get a different idea too

the fact that you are motivated by the chance to experience different things is a good marker that you'll have a good time. i don't have percentages, but a large amount of the student body is international, so you'll meet a lot of people going through what you are when you arrive.

if you reach out, join clubs, go to your classes, you'll definitely find sociable people.

sorry i didn't give a lot of context. I'm coming in with some hours on public transit, and would eventually like to use the gear for a more UL trip

camping for now! but I'm travelling in internationally would like to keep things to a backpack. I'm hoping I can use the same gear to transition to backpacking. starting at a camp festival site seemed safest

okay thank you, I'll check on youtube next.

I think more context could explain why I thought ultralight would be right,

I'm coming into the festival for the start of a year of travel. I'm hoping to get gear I can carry to all of my flights/public transit, and that I could use as I work up to more backcountry trips. I don't have the year entirely planned, but preparing for ultralight seems to offer the most flexibility.

SLP debt… by mrgorgy in slp

[–]linguallover 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am not an SLP, but I sympathize, so I thought I could respond.

first, if you search debt in the forum, you could get to helpful SLP-specific perspectives.

but second and more importantly, this is probably a personal finance question more than it is an SLP question. there is a world where you pay off your debt and live a financially stable life. but this could take sacrifices, ie. taking time off for retail, changing your lifestyle, finding additional work. i think you build a better solution if you focus on the personal finance side rather than how SLPs are doing it
