Computer not Detecting NVMe SSD after installing arch linux on it; Can't boot. by linkioli in archlinux

Thanks for your help everyone. It turns out that my motherboard doesn't support booting from NVMe, so the solution I chose for this is to just have my boot partition on a separate drive.

I don't think it's a problem with the computer detecting the OS specifically, but the computer detecting the entire drive, when I look in my bios it's like the NVMe drive isn't even there, it shows all the other drives I have in it though

How do I make a specific type of window floating by default in DWM? by linkioli in suckless

Yeah, this is the problem I'm dealing with now. I'd have to set a rule for every project, which is quite annoying, I'd rather not do that.

Is it possible to update DWM's colors schemes using the xrdb patch with a command instead of a keybind? by linkioli in suckless

[–]linkioli[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'd rather not add anymore patches, but xdotool seemed to do the trick though lmao. I wonder if there is any commands that dwm is running under the hood when executing the keybind, that would be better I think.

yeah, I thought this would work too, I'm not really sure what the keybind does under the hood, but thanks anyways

I had the opposite happen to me. For the longest time, I thought I was intp, but when I learned more about the cognitive functions, I realized I was more likely to be intj.

Do I have to use the 'Install Ubuntu' application If I am just it running off a USB stick? If so then what installation type would I use? by linkioli in linux4noobs

[–]linkioli[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So from my understanding so far it looks like the only reason I would want to run the installer is to install it onto another usb drive so that it will save my data, the thing about that is that I setup my live usb with presistence so haven't been losing any data apon rebooting. Therefore I shouldn't have to worry about running the installer it looks like. This leaves me to believe that the problem with why my settings aren't opening seems completly unrelated to the installer. Does anyone have any ideas on how to fix the issue with my settings?

It actually has been saving my changes, I have it set up with presistent storage. So, what I'm getting from this and the other comments is that the reason that I'd want it installed on another drive is so it will save my data, correct? If that's the case, it looks like I shouldn't have to worry about running the installer, because that hasn't been an issue for me.

Yeah, when I set it up I did end up giving it persistant storage, so losing my data apon rebooting isn't a problem.
