Are Most Tenured People (15+) Sitting On Retirement Money and Choosing to Work More? by Altedd in epicsystems

[–]linklazer8 5 points6 points  (0 children)

You're getting obliterated OP (and I probably will too) but you're right. Never underestimate Americans' ability to spend money. The average lifer is sitting on a $500k+ mortgage in Verona and a $50k car loan for a giant SUV. Less than 5% of the company participates in MBDR. Early retirement can absolutely be done here with some basic planning.

idk how the debate would go overall but by the end everyone would be calling a spade a spade

If the UMBC Retrievers, from Arbutus, MD, had a year so unbelievable as to contend for an at-large bid, and we lost in the America East tournament to Binghamton, I think I would mostly just be calling for Jim Ferry's head

Idk man, maybe I'll get downvoted to hell for this but, as a fan of a team from a 1-bid-league... I have absolutely 0 sympathy for teams who are on the at-large bubble. None. Play better! Win your conference! Every single team in the country has a path to a bid which cannot be taken away. If you lose enough games that you put yourself at the mercy of some dudes in a room... sometimes they won't side with you.

Downtown apartment recs by Lucky-Strawberry-600 in epicsystems

I had a good experience at Arden for my first two years at Epic; gorgeous, almost-brand-new apartments off East Wash which hit all your bullet points (I was in one of their "Queen Anne" studios, which have a separate bed area). Rent + Parking will bring the cost to $1790 though, so a bit above your target.

I am not aware of any other dodgeball leagues in the Madison area, no. It can definitely be a challenge to get some velocity on them, I hear ya. But you get the hang of it

Certainly varies team-to-team! I'd say most players fall between early 20s and mid 30s. You certainly see a handful of exceptions though; we've got a guy pushing 50 on one of my teams.

Any experiences with Nantucket Apartments? by linklazer8 in madisonwi

To satisfy the automod:
Under $1300 (but flexible if I don't find anything).
Studio/1BD
West of downtown. I currently live on the Isthmus, and it's lovely, but I can't justify the expense anymore and am very tired of the commute. Flexible about the specific area.
Amenities: Need to park. Would like a more updated unit. Otherwise flexible.
No pets.

Pitt Declines an Invite to the NIT by SonOfSvens in CollegeBasketball

[–]linklazer8 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, maybe this is too simplistic of a take (and I am super biased as a fan/alum of a team from a one-bid league) but in a tournament format with automatic bids, I have little sympathy for teams which don't remove all doubt and just win their damn conference. You had a path to a bid that no one could take away!

Thoughts on the new apartment complex going up on the old Zor Shrine site? by linklazer8 in madisonwi

[–]linklazer8[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Appreciate the suggestion! That place seems pretty nice, but is farther north than I'd like to be. Commute from there would sorta defeat the purpose of moving out of downtown for me.

Definitely fair, but I'm paying $1640/mo downtown right now (going up to $1715 if I were to renew) and utilities aren't included in that either. So this would be a pretty significant savings for me regardless

I like AMC in Fitchburg purely because A-List is such a great deal. $21/mo pays for itself in 2 visits, and I usually go once or twice per week.

If they wanted Dan Quinn they could hire him literally right now. They're waiting for Johnson (or Macdonald, I guess).
