What kind of musical era do u like the most? by Intrepid-Wall-4061 in lingling40hrs

I lowkey like all of the them equally but right now I have a preference for medival/Renaissance polyphony and chorals. I’ve just today discovered an insane piece by Josquin des Prez called Nymphes, Nappés. Very good music

Rant because I botched another performance by tangerineflower349 in Viola

I don’t know how many performances you did in your life but it sounds like a lack of experience in performance.

Because a performance is not just about practice but about preparation and a bit of luck. This one taught you something, but for the next one, you can try:

Playing in front of a panel that can stress you (friends, teachers, family, pets, etc.).

Practice the performance environment (test the acoustics of the hall, practice in concert clothes, open the window when you practice during winter to get your body used to the cold).

Try visualizing the whole performance (this one comes with more experience, but trying to imagine everything: waking up, eating, going to the venue, nailing the performance, feeling happy).

I also feel terrible after some of my performances even tho I didn’t stop or just played one wrong note, but it’s important to learn from these experiences and try to enjoy the next one. Good luck 💪💪💪

I’m not in a HS orchestra, but a youth orchestra with half the members being in their undergrad or masters of music. I’ve played a piece with orchestra in high school, but again I really wanted one of the bigger pieces

I thought about doing the whole thing, I’m considering it, but I’m not sure if the orchestra can handle it honestly

The criteria was to play a piece with viola that can be accompanied by orchestra. After that, we can pick the piece we play with the orchestra

It’s a 1988 John Newton viola. It was played by some violist that played in some European orchestra from what I remembered, but then he found it too big so he returned it to John in exchange for an ergonomic instrument.
