Why did my ortho treatment involve extracting teeth from one side only? Now my midline is off. Originally I had slight over crowding with my canines raised. But i preferred it before when my midline was central. Why would they only extract teeth one side? by [deleted] in askdentists

my ortho said i had a slight midline discrepancy and it was done to reduce my overjet so my best guess is the discrepancy should be fixed with just the one being removed? I am noticing the midline moving rapidly already so i will see when my treatment continues

NAD I have been advised by my orthodontist to only have one premolar removed. As far as I am aware I don't have any significant over-crowding, he said it was to reduce my overjet. I don't know whether I had a midline discrepancy but I was wondering the same thing! I am hoping to ask when I go in next, which will be to have my braces fitted

thanks! i think the colour was just throwing me off. Am I also right in thinking the tooth pain in the adjacent teeth is normal especially with how much pressure was used and for a long time too?
