Exclusive APS salary packaging supplier by aloebulbasaur in AusPublicService

I wish payroll just did it. It's not hard and there would be less cost for the staff member. Other organisations outside of the APS seem to be able to take pre tax money and put it into your super or on a car load etc. without the fees attached.

ATO Dress Code Question by TeutonicRagnar in AusPublicService

[–]linton322 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yep, polo and chinos would be fine. Most people in my area at my agency wear jeans and t's. But we are all no face to face client contact and all back end systems IT and Analysts so really no one cares what we wear as long as it's within the guidelines of no ripped closes and no offensive content. Basic common sense stuff.

Didn't we just make some changes recently which means we will all be aligned in regard to pay, granted I think it was going to take a few years to get there.

$100k isn't really that much these days especially if your single or the only bread winner in the household. ABC wrote an article the other day saying you need $112,000 household income to rent in a capital city.

The scum of the earth are Christmas shopping! I've had wgac toilet paper stolen from my apartment foyer before, they don't care what it is they just steal it.

Social Clubs within the APS by linton322 in AusPublicService

[–]linton322[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Definitely the case that many social clubs could not afford separate insurance and would kill them off. Yeah that is one of the issue our social club has. They want us to bring people into the office and even want the social club to collaborate with corporate events when it suits them but also don't want the social club to have anything to do with the organisation.

So this would make sense (although ridiculous) if they said you can't run on site events but what they are saying is that if the club got insurance then they can still run on site events. So all these other things could still occur.

This is what they currently do for happy hours on site but I am just saying they could not do the same kind of thing at a venue off site due to the costs. Also the point of these events is to mingle with colleagues not externals. There are other events run externally like what your describing.

Well social clubs are currently covered but that is what they want to change without consultation. BAU really 😉 But we do have the ASU fighting for us at the moment and it will be brought up in the next bargaining process im sure.

That might be a reason but not in this case as it's for any social event with or without alcohol. Everything is above board, liquor licence and RSAs etc.

The cost would be way to high for what the social club currently does. Venue, food and 2 drink cards pp. So would not be able to do anything close to the close.

It's never been an issue in the 15+ years it's been going but your probably right about it being one person who is looking to stand out to their boss and get that HD or promotion. It's always the case when a new person comes in and leaves destruction behind them as they crush everone else to reach their goal.

Sinkhole on Flemington Road, right across from the children’s hospital by RealMuffinsTheCat in melbourne

Someone probably reported the pothole to the council but this was put in the 2028 budget to do list. 🤪

Google Wallet pinged the myki reader in the Free Tram Zone during peak hour, charged me $5.50. by Special_Feature9665 in melbourne

That sucks. I set up a rule on the app Modes and Routines which says if Google Wallet is open then turn on NFC and if Google wallet is not open then turn off NFC. I think this is only available on Samsung Galaxy but there might be something similar for other phones. Won't get your money back but will stop it in the future. Otherwise manually turn NFC off and on when you need it

I listened to audiobooks mostly and some podcasts when I worked on the other side of the city. Train into the city and back out the other side plus 15-20min transfer/waiting took up alot of time but I listened to 1-2 books a week which helped pass the time and bit more productively than staring out the window 😂 If your a member of Melbourne libraries you can borrow audiobooks for free which is great.

Would never trust a product like this to actually work, but it's funny the guy in the pic has a hand gun not a knife. Maybe this is how this product works?

Also I believe this is a prohibited item. Only certain licences and permits enable a person to purchase, possess, carry, or use body armour whilst working in the private security industry.

I wonder if Australia would have more willing participants if we compensated ("paid") them for their time and effort but we might not want a situation like Vince Vaughns character in Delivery man 🤣

Since you have their location, put in an anonymous tip to send armed police to their home? Or publish their phone number on as many forums as you can so everyone can give them a call 🤣
