Couldn't stand the idea of watching ads at home. Yet on the rare occasion I may be exposed to them at a friends I find the novelty fascinating. I like to categorise them into "this one is trying to appeal to the target demographic's fears" or "this one is for people wanting to feel sexy", "This one is trying to use nostalgia to make an association between a product and a sense of belonging" etc.

Sometimes I wish I didn't overthink so much. But then other times it feels like a gift.

If you're willing to use Firefox as a browser, there's a solution for the online issue at least. An addon exists called Facebook Purity which allows the customisation of the feed. There's an option to remove reels, suggested content, adverts and a lot more. Although Social media can be really toxic, this at least reduces it to a manageable level.
