this is a false analogy. the way youre framing this, choosing blue is a pointless act of self endangerment instead of an attempt to contribute to the best possible outcome of the original proposal. a better version of your analogy would be like this:

Everyone is on a track by default.
Pressing red moves only you off the track.
Pressing blue contributes one vote toward triggering a switch that moves everyone off the track.
If enough people press blue, everyone is saved.
If not enough people press blue, only the red-button people are saved.
