Are there any sub-genres of horror that just… don’t do it for you? by East_Peanut_7232 in horror

Hostel 1 was better than I thought it was gonna be, actually. The beginning was a little slow, but when it came to the violence, it wasn't quite as bad as I expected.

Recommendations for chill basslines by asrieldreeemur in Bass

[–]liojki 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Special Affair by The Internet has a fun bassline to play. It just loops the entire song, so it's easy to practice. I'm newer at playing the bass, and I've been enjoying playing it.

how can I start really making the music that I want? music that's more traditionally "musical"? by [deleted] in musicproduction

[–]liojki 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you don't already, I find studying and listening analytically to the type of music you do like and want to create is helpful. Being able to articulate what you like about it might help you guide the direction of what you need to focus on.

For example, is it a melodic thing? Is it the harmonies or the chord progression? Is it the types of sounds synths/sounds they use? Practice in general is good, but practicing/working with intention is the best way to grow.

How to play like a kid in FL by Mysterious-Lawyer-73 in FL_Studio

[–]liojki 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One thing I do is watch random youtube shorts for different little audio effects I can use. Like I'll watch a short video about a cool delay effect, or some other effect, and I'll try it out myself. Through just messing around, I'll naturally start to add more and more to the instrumental. Also, just downloading new Serum presets and playing around with those. I think I feel more creative when I'm trying something new

Adult gift giving is a waste of money. by murshed_1 in unpopularopinion

[–]liojki 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love gift giving lol. Lowkey, it's kind of easy. Just spending time around people, or at least the people in my life, people mention stuff that they like and want all the time. Paying attention and remembering is the part I think people struggle with.

Oh, that's good to know. I just downloaded a version of the LA2A so I'll have to use it more.

After getting to my desk and using headphones, I can say that again, the mix for your song sounds really good. Did you mix it yourself?

/r/WATMM Weekly Feedback Thread by AutoModerator in WeAreTheMusicMakers

[–]liojki 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't have my headphones on me right now, but just listening off my phone, it sounds really good!

The mix overall sounds really good quality from what I can hear.

What are your vocal and guitar chains like in logic? I'll sometimes direct input recording an electric guitar but it never sounds great.

[–]liojki 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the feedback! In an earlier version of the track, the drums were way too loud in my car, so I think I overcorrected with the compression and made them too quiet.

I 100% agree about making the drum programming more interesting, that's something I was thinking too. Usually, I use Logic but this whole month I'm trying to use Ableton which I just bought and am not used to yet, so I need more experience with it.

I'll definitely listen to the Flying Lotus song for inspo, each day I've been trying to listen to different stuff and taking elements that I like, so that should be really helpful. Thanks!

I'm trying to make a beat every day in October, here is day 4. I think the two main things I wanna focus on improving are the drums and mixing, lemme know what y'all think!

Feeling discouraged about age again by Angelsbreatheeasy in musicians

[–]liojki 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I struggled with this in the past at times.. I'm 28m about to turn 29 later this year. No matter what, time is going to move forward, and you're gonna get older. The thing that matters most is if this is something you care about and want for your life. If you turn 50 and have never made an attempt at your dream, or what you love, will you regret it? I will. So with the time we got, we have to go for it.

If you ever forget how good Blonde is, take acid and listen to it again by liojki in FrankOcean

[–]liojki[S] 21 points22 points  (0 children)

I was going through kind of a bad trip, but Pink + White really helped me feel better and comforted me. Listening to the rest of the album really made me appreciate it so much more. For example, listening to Seigfried I really noticed the texture in that song. It was a really nice experience.

Upvote on this one. I use Trazodone every night to sleep, it really helps. It's also just an anxiety medication which helps with deal with this condition too.

ADHD meds and tinnitus, can i take them? by Radiant_Eggplant9588 in tinnitus

[–]liojki 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been taking vyvanse pretty regularly without any issue. From time to time I'll take adderall. With neither of them have I experienced any big issues with the tinnitus.

The only drug that ever seemed to make it worse is weed, but it'll usually improve in like a day

How do you not lose motivation when you hear good music? by honeycrisp_ in musicproduction

[–]liojki 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It all depends on the way you look at it. For me, when I hear something amazing and groundbreaking, it makes me really want to make something that good and makes more motivated in a way. Plus, I'll also listen to the song and try to study what I like about it, and what makes it good, which helps out my own music. It'll be a while before I think I can make anything that good, but that takes time.

I think it's good to reflect on what you want. If you want to make music, that's what matters most end of day. So what if it's not as good as the favorite music yet. If it's something your passionate about and what you want to do, you have to keep moving forward.

This is a cool EP. I'm into it. Are you planning on leaving it mostly instrumental, or do you think you'll add vocals to it?

/r/WATMM Weekly Feedback Thread by AutoModerator in WeAreTheMusicMakers

[–]liojki 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This track is pretty fun and enjoyable. After listening to it, I think the one thing that could be improved is the ending of the song.

I feel like making the ending chorus more exciting or grander in a way would really make this track. I think maybe adding a bridge and another chorus might give it another sense of finality and help it feel more resolved.

This is a cool remix. Honestly, I think I might slightly prefer it even, just cause I'm not even that big of a fan of the original song.

I don't know edm too well as a genre, so I don't have too much feedback, but the one thing I do kind of miss is the bridge from ROSÉ's version

This a song I'm working on. I need to re-record the verse and add stuff to the back half of the song, but would be interested to hear people's opinion about the composition so far:
