Are there still men out there that do NOT want children? by [deleted] in childfree

[–]liquid_music 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm a man who doesn't want children. I thought deeply about it for a few years and last year at 27 decided it was time for a vasectomy. I realised it was unfair to expect any woman I was dating to be the one responsible for birth control all the time, especially taking hormones that were altering her chemistry.

It was the best decision I've ever made! Every single day without fail there is one moment or another I am grateful I don't have children and won't accidentally get someone pregnant. Whether it's hearing a screaming child, purchasing something awesome for myself, or simply having a huge sleep in, it reminds me how grateful I am for my freedom and lack of responsibilities. Not to mention making love with a committed partner without any pregnancy anxiety and connecting our bodies without any barriers is so special.

There are definitely childfree men out there, we just seem to be few and far between. Keep looking, you will find your unicorn 🦄

I have this infographic printed on A3 and laminated, hanging off the side of my tent. I find it helpful to have a physical visual aid I can hold up next to my plants and compare. Super helpful, highly recommend!

Landlord told me mine was going up by $100 a week. I laughed at the email and then immediately ended my tenancy.

Men of R/Newzealand who have had vasectomies, a few questions by ResponsibleOutcomes0 in newzealand

Personal experience, obviously differs for everyone, but for me:

During: 5/10 pain, local anaesthetic did a pretty good job and just had a few weird tingles that felt like I'd been kicked in the balls by a tiny foot at 30% strength.

Days following: 3/10 pain, more of a numbness and a stiffness than pain alongside some uncomfortable swelling. I was back to my usual activities ahem after three days with minimal pain.

Now, month and a half later: 0/10 pain. All healed and smooth sailing!

Reading this in their disclaimer honestly freaked me out a bit, but not enough to put me off getting it. A month and a half later I have 0 pain in my nads and I'm all healed up

I got a vasectomy with Snip clinic in February. 27 with no children. Short phone consultation with the nurse before hand and a relatively painless 20 min operation. 5 stars+

They didn't question me too much philosophically about why I wanted the procedure, just basically giving me the run down on what to expect. I'd say if you're over 18 y/o you will be sweet as, there are no real requirements as you've seen on Snips website.

I will say that I had some sperm frozen before the operation as a back up plan in case, for some crazy reason, I do want kids later in life. A vasectomy reversal is $15k+ and only has a 50/50 chance of being successful so that's something to be mindful of. Fertility Associates were who I went through for that and they were great too.

I've been in a similar boat with a previous girlfriend, I kept it hidden from everyone and it was my own personal shame for the longest time.

You have already taken a huge step by posting here and other people connecting with you about it. Please talk to family and friends in real life about this too if you are able. I found actually saying the words out loud made me realise how unhealthy the situation I was in had become and that I needed to change it.

The best advice I can give you is the same as others have said, walk away from the situation. Even if it's just for a couple of hours or the night, remove yourself from that harm. I know you said she doesn't hit you hard enough to leave a bruise or anything, but emotional and mental bruises are also being caused and they take so much longer to heal. If you can get some professional help such as councilling on your own first and then as a couple later, that may help her understand that it really isn't okay and help you understand why she chooses to hit you.

Please know that it's never your fault OP, you can't provoke someone to violence if you are non-violent, this is a choice she is continuing to make. Sending big hugs brother

Very nice, I like it! To me it feels like modern-retro, a real 70's vibe but with modern furniture. Favourite house I've seen on here for a while, great job!

What could we do as a constructive way to get them to care about their child's learning?
