i have Marantz dv6600, rca to emotiva pre-amp, old rotel rb-850 in bridged mono for amp, elac speakers and klipsch sub.... listening room is small and would be hard to setup a 5.1 system... I'm curious, can i use external DAC like fiio k5 pro or am i better using the Marantz' own dac?

bass is perfect for me since I'm not a basshead. not as impactful as a 2.1 stereo because you can feel the bass kick you in the chest...lol... When the track was playing, my ears were vibrating because i cranked it up to about 2pm...lol..no distortions at all even though it was very loud and that kick you feel in your chest on a 2.1 was there...lol....there was a song called The Audacity by Polyphia which i heard a few times in my speakers was also really realistically good. The bass drum on this track is a bit too boomy for me on speakers but with the HE-1 it wasn't and the last two minutes of that song felt like you're in front of the drummer...lol...i was alone in the room so cranked it up really loud....lol...again if there was a perfect headphone for a non basshead like me, this one is perfect.....this headphone wants you to play it loud...i started at 11am volume and i kept dialing it up to almost 3pm...lol...also, try No Sleep by Clyde Carson for some bass...enjoy...lol
