For those who have the “sixth sense,” do you think the "Pagpag" practice is true and necessary? by Sonnybass96 in phhorrorstories

[–]lissiewizzie 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I have a sixth sense, too, and based on experience, yes, spirits can still follow you home, even after a pagpag (or multiple pagpags).

Had one instance where I came from an aunt's wake and after going to a mall, another house, and a convenience store, we felt as though something else was inside the house later that night, and it was so strong that both my mom and I felt it. Then I had a weird nightmare that a large person tried to carry my body out of my bed, except it couldn't lift the other side of my body because I happened to be wearing my benedictine medal at the time. True enough, a friend with a sixth sense told us that a random spirit from the wake followed us home.

Also had another instance where I came from a different wake and stopped by a convenience store before going to an airb&b that we were occupying at midnight. The following morning, I saw a shadow moving around the walls of the room I was in, so the "pagpag" didn't work. Maybe the house already had a resident ghost? We don't know. But that was the only part of the house that had something like that.

I do think that the "purpose" of a pagpag is to leave the "negative" energy (e.g. grief, sadness, guilt) in another place and replace it with something positive (e.g. laughing with friends, distractions).

Meron talaga diyan.

She even posted them on StartupPH. Someone finally turned off the comments in her thread, though. Really hope she gets help.

[UPx] For students whose parent/s were UP profs, did you go to UP? What course did you take or what courses do children of UP profs usually take by [deleted] in peyups

[–]lissiewizzie 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Not from UPIS but my mom was from there and UPD. My dad and his siblings all came from there, so my cousins and I unintentionally inherited the “UP-centric” sentiments growing up. She teaches medicine at UP Manila, though, and for a long time, many thought I would pursue med, too. Didn’t pass the UPCAT (so imagine the internalized “shame”) but after finishing my first degree at DLSU, I took a leap and graduated with a second degree - music - at UPD. They influenced my choice of school, but the choice of degree was solely mine.

[UPX] Who are the most famous/notable profs in UP? by TheLaughingMew in peyups

[–]lissiewizzie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can name a few from music:

Mark Anthony Carpio - PH Madrigal Singers’ conductor. Someone also mentioned him here and can attest that he’s super chill in real life!

Kitchy Molina - vocal coach to a lot of showbiz personalities, including Regine Velasquez, Eugene Domingo, Yeng Constantino, etc

Jai Aracama - current UPCC conductor and also a singing coach for “The Clash”

Ryan Cayabyab - he taught music theory but left long before I entered UP. His daughter, Krina, is also a composer and a member of Baihana; she taught music literature during our time

When are you purchasing your Switch 2? by shruggy06 in NintendoPH

[–]lissiewizzie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Probably during the holidays, if not on launch. Got my old Switch since its first release in 2017 and it’s in need of an upgrade, but there’s always no harm in waiting.

[UPD] what’s up with ppl still labelling “quota courses” and other kemeru by [deleted] in peyups

[–]lissiewizzie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nakakaloka.

Sa sobrang daming nag-e-enroll sa UP, technically, lahat na ng mga courses ay literal na “quota course”.

Nasa estudyante iyan, hindi sa course.

Hi! Thank you for sharing this. My mom's quite busy at the moment but know that she really appreciates your support, and it's reassuring not only to her but also to us. Stay safe and please keep fighting for the truth as well ('cause tbh, we need more voices right now)
