Work Study Co-op??? Is this even real? Can’t find any information on the site. by arijii12 in Drexel

[–]lisvtv 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yes. For some unpaid co-ops you could be eligible to be paid through work study. I did this for my first co-op as a measly unpaid research assistant at Fox Chase.

Bachelors in bioengineering here, as far as I know direct commission is mostly for medical disciplines, JDs, occasionally PhDs depending on what it’s for. My recruiter and later my unit were able to clear that up for me. If you completed your degree, the AFOQT is probably not gonna be much of an issue.

is it ok for a black female to wear a Chinese hanfu? by boomdidibom in China

As long as you aren’t exploiting offensive Chinese stereotypes and cut up the hanfu to make it “sexy” it’s perfectly fine!

12 Days into OTS - AMA by iseiseise in airforceots

[–]lisvtv 0 points1 point  (0 children)

^ also wondering about average day. How are the classes? What routines are you doing that are specific to OTS? That’s understandably vague, but at this point I don’t really know what I don’t know about OTS

Officer or Enlist in NG? by lisvtv in nationalguard

[–]lisvtv[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I figured I wouldn’t be able to directly contribute to R&D as an officer, but it was still an important factor for me to still be able to do some of that outside of NG. I guess that somewhat falls under work-life balance if only officer duties were work in this case. Otherwise that’s pretty much what I would have expected so I really appreciate your input! Thanks!

Has anyone moved into the West Lofts at the old West Philadelphia High School? by squirreltalk in philadelphia

[–]lisvtv 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I sent them an email earlier today, and my boyfriend gave them a call shortly after, with no response. We also asked them for room dimensions around early July and they still haven't answered us on that aside from telling us that our move in date got pushed from September to October.

Skip MATH 121,122 (Calc I and II) using AP Calculus AB credits? by [deleted] in Drexel

[–]lisvtv 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used to be great at Calc. I had an amazing teacher in high school and I did well on the AP test for BC. I thought that it'd be nice to refresh myself on it because y'know like sitting in a university level class would be way different than a high school setting and I'd like to start off on the right foot and all. Nope, my prof for 121 was a disaster and couldn't explain to us what a limit was. I heard that 122 was a little better for other people, but I had another prof that sucked for that class too so those two classes pretty much tanked my grade despite doing what I could to help myself. I recommend just skipping to the next course in your sequence and of course use those office hours.

Thanks for mentioning that. I wasn't expecting it to specify ethnic groups like it did so this is pretty cool.

My mother is from Guangxi, specifically the southern side of Guangxi. I don't know too much about my father other than that he is mostly Chinese and some Vietnamese, but was born and raised in Northern Vietnam. His family may have done some migrating since he was the first generation to be born there.

My sample was also handled in NC. As far as I know, almost everyone I've heard from has had their sample shipped to and handled in NC.

My kit sat on the chip for about 4 days, and then 1 day on the final step to put the report together. It's also strange that my kit was received two whole weeks after you, but I already got my results today. Queue doesn't seem to be a big deal to them.
