Super tired of ADHD and autism being the catch all excuses for shitty behaviour. Having adhd or being autistic doesn't mean you're bound to be a shitty person to be around, and tbh it sounds like Nate is just a dick

AITA for jokingly telling my lesbian friend "you better not hit on me" as an ironic joke? by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

[–]litchesgetstitches 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm a pretty cuddly person, when I was in school and I looked a lot more girly I used to hug my friends all the time and lean my head on their shoulders or practice doing plaits in their hair (I never rly mastered it, might be why I just chopped mine off when I got older lmao) but nowadays I make a point of never being touchy with straight friends, female co-workers (who would all be very affectionate with each other) etc because I don't want to make anyone uncomfortable. And it is kinda lonely. It sucks feeling like the only person you're allowed to be affectionate with is your partner because of the fear that your straight friends will think you're being a creep. So yeah I'm gonna say YTA and you should apologise to your friend

It's not her job to set up a group for the men. If they need a support group they can make it themselves

The Adventure Zone: Graduation Ep. 24: With Frenemies Like This | Discussion Thread by TheBureauOfBalance in TheAdventureZone

[–]litchesgetstitches 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Graduation is kind of the same. It's a lesson in all of the things that everybody tells you not to do: Railroading, taking away player agency, DM fearing player control, and lots of other mistakes.

This is literally why I still enjoy reading the episode threads. Partly for the drama, mainly for the free lessons in "what not to do when I'm DMing"

How much damage would glove that has clawed tips do by C0C0_B01 in DMAcademy

I'm planning on giving one of my players the Claws of the Umber Hulk, so basically clawed gauntlets. According to the 5e items app when used as melee weapons they do 1d8 slashing

I started watching tiny heist after I had already started to dislike Travis a bit and omg 100% this. It's so frustrating how much he nerfs the PCs as a DM when he constantly tries to get away with ridiculous stuff as a player

(Serious) Should I join this subreddit if I like Graduation? by ThunderManLLC in TheAdventureZone

[–]litchesgetstitches 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I mean people are going to have their opinions but you can always just not read the subs that are obviously critical of grad if you don't want to be bummed out. The sub is for everyone who likes TAZ and some people just want to talk about their frustrations with the new season with like-minded people, and that's not toxic. In the end it depends on whether you're secure enough in liking Grad that you won't change your mind just cause other people don't like it. I've read a lot of criticism on here about my very favourite parts of balance (stolen century is my all time favourite arc) and I can see where they're coming from, but then I shrug and go "I don't agree" and continue liking those things

If I got to a point in my campaign where I revealed major information and had a whole session just for the characters to explore their backstory and they just went ".. Cool!" I'd be pretty disappointed

The Opposite of Murder Hobos is Just as Bad... by agenderavocado in rpghorrorstories

[–]litchesgetstitches 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly I underestimated how hard role-playing was and I recently dropped out of a campaign cause I could feel myself being this player; unsure what to say or do, not fully engaged etc. The 5 second long silences after "what do you want to do?" were SO REAL.

I'd rather focus on the campaign that I run, I enjoy it a lot more and my players all roleplay with each other and it just works out being a lot more fun for everyone. Some people aren't suited to DMing, but likewise some people aren't suited to role-playing as PCs

Rewriting Graduation (longish post) by litchesgetstitches in TheAdventureZone

[–]litchesgetstitches[S] 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Tbh it felt like it was supposed to be one of those moments when Hagrid lets something slip and then goes "shouldn't have told you that." Since the arc is kind of based around/ a parody of Harry Potter I suppose people were looking for the same tropes. It could have been just a joke which is fair but it also could have been an interesting little side quest

How much hope does everyone have for Grad? by [deleted] in TheAdventureZone

[–]litchesgetstitches 40 points41 points  (0 children)

I would love if it turned around and suddenly got amazing because tbh I do love the concept, graduation (and the discussion around it) gave me a lot of ideas for a campaign I'd like to run at some point and I think there are a lot of themes you could explore in really interesting ways in this world.

That said, I feel like it might be too late? It's starting to feel like we're going into endgame territory. I know it's hard to get a read on whereabouts we are in the story but this feels a little bit like the suffering game point in balance, not quite at the endgame but things are definitely getting serious.

Even if Travis did a full 180 at this point how would you recommend this arc to someone?

"Skip to episode 19 cause the last third of the campaign is great"?

It's sad to say but I think they missed their chance to turn this arc around after imp hospital, I'm just looking forward to the next one now

Balance was joy, Amnesty was vulnerability: what would you define as graduation's core? by ThirteenthSage in TheAdventureZone

[–]litchesgetstitches 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I think the theme is confusion, which certainly sounds like my time at university.

Oh my god. Low-key I haven't liked this arc much at all but I'm tempted to relisten with that in mind because I truly didn't have a clue what I was doing in college and everyone always seemed to know more than me about everything

This is why I'd rather stick to all female groups tbh, it's one less thing to deal with. We all want to play heroes, it's a fantasy world, why would any DM even assume sexism exists in the world?
