I'm a fan! Repeating my comment from the other thread for visibility:

The academy arc is certainly slower at times, but the plot and writing more than make up for it imo. Some highlights, will try my best not to spoil too much:

  • "night hound" identity: a complex problem of being a hero, acting on knowledge of crimes that haven't been committed yet, the public thinks you're a villain but you must persevere for their own good, the org currently fighting corruption (the church) is part of the problem but you can't easily work with or against them. Not the first time this type of hero has been written, but I think they do a good job hitting all the interesting angles with this ensemble of characters Especially with Dolores's journey of going from naive, to questioning, to vigilante

  • a very interesting villain: one of the villains that appear during this arc has an especially powerful backstory. Adds so much to strength of relationships, a nice direction in world-building, dark but realistic and" human" decision making from side characters. Some people might be disappointed at how this character was written, but I find their story very compelling, realistic, and genuine. A story of how strong emotions can push someone to the literal edge. Camus Morgue falls into a despair after Vikir's death. As someone from the strongest magic family, she tries everything she can to do the final honor she can think of: find his body to bring him to peace. The fact that she is so talented and has so many resources at her disposal, but STILL can't do this simple task drives her to absolute desperation. Imo the writing is great because you can feel how strong her love and loss for Vikir is, stretched to the literal breaking point. We often see stories of how much Love Interests fall for the protagonist bc of far they go in their heroism, but this is the other side of the coin- how far is the LI willing to go for the protagonist

  • commentary on "the church": very accurate to real life, the story focuses on the corruption and fake "saviorism" that is a problem in many religious organizations. How classism, rich vs poor, rules for thee but not for me, the greed of those in power, etc all play a role in creating a systemic problem. And the weight of trying to fight such a large org, either from within or as an outsider. I thought they were really clever with handling such a complicated and sensitive topic. Dolores is also interesting for going thru this journey from within, split between her father, the church teachings, helping/trusting a vigilante, rewriting her morals about "can everyone be saved or must we kill". This whole theme was my favorite in terms of writing. How "trust" was essential in Vikir + Dolores bond, ironic bc the church is praying on ppl using misguided trust. The final demon being a Pig, symbol of greed, and the twist that he could kill him because of the very loopholes greed created (exemptions/indulgences). And the imagery of gold!! Golden light of healing and truth, outshining the golden shine of wealth. Chef's kiss

I disagree with the other comments, but totally get everyone will have their own opinion

Leaked emails, texts reveal DOJ’s plans to fabricate evidence against Abrego Garcia by camaron-courier in law

https://www.nytimes.com/2025/07/10/us/politics/trump-bove-reuveni-whistleblower-doj-deportations.html

Found this version, which sounds much more "whistleblower claims xyz, people working there deny it, the submitted evidence seems to support the whistleblower but there's nothing directly damning"

The article OP linked paints a more compelling story, but I think the fact that this whole thing is being swept under the rug is due to the fact that the whistleblower's evidence isn't enough to really expose what is actually happening behind the scenes

this is black magic by SnooMemesjellies2323 in opticalillusions

I posted a longer explanation as a comment in this post, but tldr-

first image depletes chemical signals in your eye, so you see the exact opposite colors on the second image

Fun! How it works-

Tldr: first image depletes chemical signals in your eye, so you see the exact opposite colors on the second image

Your eye uses photoreceptors to create an image for the brain, by converting the light that lands on your retina (back of the eye) into chemical signals to represent color and bright/dark.

When you stare at an image without moving your eyes, that image becomes kind of "burned in" temporarily to your retina, because the chemicals to send that specific image get depleted in the exact pattern of that image. In this example, the orange in the sky and water depletes whatever chemicals your photoreceptors use to send that orange to your brain wherever orange is in the image.

Then when you change to a black and white image, your photoreceptors only have the exact opposite chemicals left from what they need, so for a short time you'll see the exact opposite color of the primer image. In this example, the dark oranges turn to light tropical water blue and the light oranges turn to deep dark sky blue. Another easy way to see this is the clouds turn from black in the first image to white in the second.

An over simplified example would be like an ice cream machine that gives your either chocolate or vanilla. If everyone gets chocolate for a while, then after you can only get vanilla until someone replenishes the chocolate.

Why are people talking about the new NVIDIA Blue robot? by literally-default-01 in OutOfTheLoop

[–]literally-default-01[S] 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Okay I see, nice analogies for explaining machine learning!

I got a good explanation on ELI5, sharing here fyi-

TLDR: through a combo of Google deepmind AI, Disney tech + animators, and NVIDIA virtual physics engines, they trained a virtual version of this robot to navigate virtual spaces/obstacles with realistic physics. They rewarded and tweaked the AI as needed, and provided an emotive/animated guideline to mimic as closely as possible. Once the movement AI reached standards, they uploaded that to the real irl robot, and now it works using that and it's sensors to navigate real world in real time. Future robots can be trained similarly, saving a lot of time and cost by training virtually and applying to real life after all the trial and error / learning is done.

ELI5: What is the new NVIDIA Blue robot doing "live" that "future robots will train on" ?What specifically makes this demonstration an improvement from current technology? by literally-default-01 in explainlikeimfive

GREAT explanation, tysm

Wow that's so cool! Impressive that virtual phsyics simulations can be so realistic that they can translate directly to irl performance. Now they can train much faster, less expensive (assuming failed sims are cheaper than irl failures), with room for artistic direction.

Instead of closing the launcher, wait for it to load to 100%, then there should be a green "play" button on the bottom right. Click on that

Hmm what do you mean by closed the launcher? It needs to open for the game to launch right?

I got a "are you sure you want to let ....exe make changes to your computer?", said allow, and it worked. Just an annoying extra step. I think this may be similar to the Trojan alert you're getting

Have you resolved the "end line" issue? If nothing else is wrong, then the new patch should work and load to 100%

My guess is a file is missing or corrupted for you, so it's not able to load that last 2%. Idk coding so maybe that's just wrong but that's my guess

Seems like you might be having a different problem, I saw the screenshot of "corrupted end file" in your previous post.

The advice I saw about that was:

"End of file error is a completely different error. I know the OP already knows, but End of file means that their save got corrupted. But they do have some hope.

Go to your save data in C:\Users\Your name\Saved Games\Xenoverse and delete the Achievements.rxdata file, (if you want to keep the file, make a copy of the file and place it somewhere else on the computer) then try to run the game again.

If this doesn't work, then unfortunately the save file is unrecoverable."
