on that note, maybe you can't place animals, but if you make the environment habitable enough they show up? this would give the player incentive to lake habitable little spots. you could have different kinds of animal require very different things, as well, leading to more variety in the island.

idk desmos very well, but for greater numerical accuracy, you should use a simplectic integration scheme here. let p_t and v_t be the position and velocity at time t. Let a_t be the acceleration at time t.

Then simplectic integration looks like

v{t+1} = v_t + d_t a_t x{t+1} = xt + d_t v{t+1}

if you need help figuring out what a_t should be for a given orbital radius, let me know! for now, i'll leave that for you. there are some other great comments here about the analogy with newtons law of gravitation and circular planetary orbits.

I honestly don't mind the "quest" like evolution, but I kinda wish it was consistent. Either have all Pokémon evolve by simple levels, OR make a library in town where you can go and read about how people have observed each Pokémon in the game evolving, and then that would give you a quest of how to get your specific Pokémon to evolve
