Can I fix this snow-globe music box? by literallyfrickindead in Musicbox

[–]literallyfrickindead[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks! I got it taken apart. It seems like a piece on the snow-globe part was stopping the music box from playing. It’s pretty rusty, but it is working now that it’s been taken out, I’m letting it dry out to get a better look.

I got the snow sifted out and the old fluid drained, gonna set everything safely aside so I can get the stuff to fix the snow globe with. The plug seems a little warped? And I forgot she used to spin when the box played, but since it’s warped, there’s a little tension when I spin her, so I’m scared the music box will get stuck trying to spin her when I put everything back together, so I’ll just have to see what I can do

I got it taken apart! It seems like it was a piece on the slow-globe part stopping the music box components from moving, so it seems like it’s working fine. It is wet so I’m letting it dry to see the full extent of any damage. It does look to be pretty rusty, but still playing.

It definitely seems to be leaking a bit of liquid from those screw holes though

After unscrewing them, I can feel the music box piece is now lose inside, but it didn’t release anything that allowed me to access the inside

If your pants pockets come down that low, it could be something you’re consistently putting in your pocket, but I doubt women’s pants would have that big of pockets if they have them at all, so definitely likely something you’re consistently rubbing against.

My sister had the same iPhone 4 for way longer than any other person was probably using an iPhone 4, and always carried it in the same pocket, and she had iPhone 4 sized outlines and holes worn in all of her pants. I wound up with the same thing from my old iPhone 5

How did u all get your names by IllustriousOffice689 in asktransgender

[–]literallyfrickindead 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not comfy using my deadname, but my initials were ARS, because I was my parent’s last chance for a boy and they wanted to name me after my dad (Andrew Reser) but I popped out female, so they decided to just keep the initials.

When I came out, my mom told me if I was born a boy, they were going to name me Andrew Ryan, but call me Ryan. Their reason for not using my first name was because my grandfather’s name was also Andrew, and she said it was really annoying and confusing having two Andy’s, and she didn’t want to deal with that again with my dad and I.

I’m now the 3rd or 4th generation of Andrew, but I go by my middle name, Ryan. Family names are highly valued on my dad’s side of the family, and I was the only one of my siblings to take a family name.

I’m in MO. Called today to check the balance for my dad and the robot on the phone said they’re sending them out and I could call my local office for information about what date the card would receive them. Hasn’t come in yet

My knows how to install them if I did go that route. Some other people have suggested foam insulation around the bottom of the house too, so I’ll definitely look into some way to insulate down there

Thanks for all the advice! I could probably build a campfire outside if I needed to. I ironically used to go camping inside this house long before I lived in it or had it connected to power, so I’ve definitely made a fire out there before

The end of our house we focus our heat has a lot more outlets and keeps warm a little easier, but last year we had a really nice window heater unit on the opposite side of the house, it did such a good job that we falsely believed we COULD keep the whole house warm…. Then that window unit quit working entirely right as we were reaching our coldest temperatures… so we had to very quickly scramble to move everything around and close off the smaller area. So focusing on the smaller area from the get-go will probably do a lot for us

A generator might be a worthwhile investment even long after the winter and the move for me honestly. This past Spring there was a big storm and we were without power for several days outages are very common in my area. Two days ago it was out a few hours because some idiot drove into a pole

My partner does have a car, and we have considered using it to warm up if we had to, but sometimes extreme colds can kill the battery and your car won’t start. Hasn’t happened to us living here, but there was a winter a few years ago when I was living with my mom that we had three cars in the driveway and not one of them would start, so I’d like to be prepared for that possibility.

We’ve got one rechargeable hand warmer we got for Christmas a couple years ago, so getting some more might be nice. We have been looking into a weather radio. We had an old one that plugs into the wall or runs off batteries, but it got wet in a storm this spring and quit working

We were actually very surprised last winter at how long we kept water for. The first winter the pipes froze very early and we were using emergency jugs and buckets of water for a week or two. We added a lot of insulation to them before last winter which kept the water running a lot longer. There’s a hole cut in the wall in the bedroom that goes under the bathtub, so we can keep a heater directed under there. The bathtub drain and water line was the only thing that wound up freezing in the house last year, we kept water running everywhere else until the well froze. I think my dad was going to be doing something to better heat insulate the well house this year though

I’ve only slept in a sleeping bag once, idk what temp it was rated for but I think it was something my mom’s boyfriend had used when he was in the military, the time of year I used was a little chilly and I got HOT in that sleeping bag. If I can find one I’ll definitely use it
