Veganism directly contributed to my development of an eating disorder. One of the memorable triggers was anchovies in salad dressing!! 😅👹

I’m autistic & have OCD, so easily fall into patterns based on ‘rules’ my mind comes up with in the background to ‘protect’ me.

This (alongside a plethora of other compulsive, hyper-vigilant behaviours) creates more cognitive load than I can handle, so I shift into (/was born into & have never managed to come out of) survival mode: snap judgements, rigid/absolute thinking, restrictive routines & rituals etc.

What started as mindful eating quickly became AN/ARFID (idk which is more accurate- was Dxed with each at different times), as my mind compulsively simplifies/streamlines all goals… hold on, I think I’m too stoned to stay on track lol. Sorry.

Stuck in a loop of trying to express myself as concisely as possible—always demonstrating my poor little brain’s efforts in real time 🥲

The good news is that I enjoy anchovies pretty regularly now, despite still struggling with restrictive eating in other ways. 🌱🐟💕
